Hi I'm Brigitte

About Me

I have been a wife and mother for 27 years to a great husband and 5 wonderful kids. They range from 10-27. I have also been blessed with 2 beautiful grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Roman Catholic church and baptized as a baby. All my years in the Catholic church I never opened the bible. It seemed to be just a book we had in our home. I started to question my beliefs at about 20. By then I was a mother and really wanted to know more. I was not happy with my life. I had no goals and didn't know what to do. A friend of mine set me up with a coworker and the first time we went out he asked me questions like who am I and what was my purpose in this life? I had no Idea. I know I loved being a mother but what was my future? He invited Elder James Crawford and Elder Reed Bromley over to his apartment while I was there and they shared a message with me. My daughter and I attended their church. I started to question everything I knew and was taught growing up. I had so many questions for them!! And they answered them! I had a feeling of ‘knowing’ what I was looking for. I called my Priest and asked him 5 simple questions. Why am I here? What is my purpose? Where will I go when I die? What is God’s role in my life? And something about families. He couldn’t answer any of my questions! I asked myself why the missionaries had no problem answering the same questions. I couldn't wait for the discussions because I grabbed at every concept. Growing up I was taught that ‘God’ was a mass of energy, everywhere. No form. But now I really had someone to pray to. Like a father. Someone that would listen to me. Someone that cared for me. I prayed hard and with purpose. I got my answer and was baptized the next Sunday. I know I made the right choice for me and my daughter and now for my whole family. Yes I married the new boyfriend. We met in March and were engaged in April. He baptized me on May 22, 1988 and the bishop married us in August. He took me and my daughter to the Los Angeles Temple to be sealed as a family for eternity on our first anniversary.

How I live my faith

My faith is not a Sunday morning activity but a way of life with a purpose and a reward. I attend all my church meetings with my family and live by the gospel standards. I live everyday as though I want to be with my family for eternity.

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

I had a great experience when Hurricane Katrina hit us even though my family was without water and electricity for a month. The church had already had trucks loaded with food and supplies close by when the hurricane hit. As soon as the hurricane had passed the trucks came in and we were able to set up a food bank in our church building the next day. Everyone, every denomination, was welcome to come get food and very much needed supplies including ice, drinking water, personal items, clothes, diabetic supplies, prescriptions (we had a doctor and nurses), diapers and formula, generators, tents, sleeping bags and so much more at no cost to them. They got to choose whatever was on the list of what was in stock. I had a chance to help fill orders for items that people needed after this very devastating event. I loved talking with those families and crying with them too as they told their own stories about how everything was lost. It was a hard time for so many and I am glad that I could be a part of this experience. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

Well being a mormon myself I believe that my family is the most important people in the world to me. I want to have the relationship with them that will last throughout eternity. Show more Show less
