Hi I'm Mandy

I'm a wife. I'm a grad student. I love traveling, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am religious and believe in God and Jesus Christ. I am married to a wonderful man who loves me very much and can always make me smile. I like to read (a lot). One of my greatest wishes is to climb one of the 7 mountains. I love being outdoors. Orca whales are my favorite animals. Cultures have captured my ambition; Ethiopia has captured my heart. I love cultures and languages. Traveling the world has helped me see more of God's children and His creations. The ocean is my favorite place to be. I write poetry. I'm currently pursuing my master's degree in Organizational Communication. Service is a BIG part of my life. I am Mandy.

Why I am a Mormon

From a very early age I found that my Heavenly Father truly did love me. I put a lot of trust in Him and found that as I continued on with my young life that Jesus Christ is my Savior. As I continued to live in the LDS faith, the more blessed I was. I have seen many blessings in my life through living positively and wouldn't trade my testimony for anything. I know that this church was restored in its fullness and that it is the church that was organized when Christ was on the earth. This is His church. I know that prophets have been called since the time of Joseph Smith Jr. and that the gospel has been restored and will continue to receive revelation until the Lord Jesus Christ comes to reign on earth as the true King. I know that the atonement is real; that Jesus Christ died for the sins, transgressions, pains and sufferings of the world and that only through Him will we be able to live again with our Father in Heaven. I believe the Holy Bible to be the word of God, as well as The Book of Mormon, which further testifies of God and His Beloved Son. The Book of Mormon serves to testify that Christ truly did live and cares for all of His children. I testify that families are essential to God's plan of Happiness for us; we can one day live with all of our loved ones. I believe all of this to be true, without a doubt and with all my being.

How I live my faith

I love my religion. I'm a regular church goer. I believe in and love God, my Father in Heaven, and believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I enjoy praying to my Father in Heaven and reading my scriptures. I also love to meditate and ponder truth. These things help keep me on track and reach my goals in this life and the life to come. On Sundays at my local church congregation, you will see me and my husband teaching Sunday School to the 7 and 8 year olds. We love being with the little children and seeing their simple, yet meaningful acts of dedicated faith and love toward Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. On my free time, I am heavily into family history work. I enjoy searching for information on my deceased ancestors. Through temple ordinances, members of the LDS faith believe that families can be together forever. Thus, we emphasize the importance of families (even those who have gone on before us). I have a strong connection to my family and ancestors, and love learning about their personal stories. I hope that I can help others find that same happiness in knowing the people that helped make their own lives possible.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Prayer is the way that we can come to know our Father in Heaven. Prayer is a direct communication between ourselves and our Father in Heaven. The more we pray, the more we talk with Him. And the more we talk with Him, the more we build our relationship with Him. He has promised to all of us, His children, that if we pray, He will answer us. We will be able to feel His presence in our lives and His direction that He has for us. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Mormons do help other Mormons, but not only Mormons! We love to serve all of those around us, all of those in need. Our church has a Welfare system that helps members not of our faith in many times of need. And not just with those in emergency situations, but in any small times of need we will help where help is needed. My parents always taught me to serve others. They would say "If you see someone working, and you are not, go help them". I find that this attitude is in our church, and the attitude to look for and search for opportunities to help others - this is an attitude of Jesus Christ that we try to emulate. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

In everything around me, I see that God has a hand in all of it. From the very simplistic nature of new life, I know that there must be a higher power, some being that has created this wonderful earth for us to live in. Who more than a loving Heavenly Father would provide something so amazing? The most beautiful thing that I believe shows me there is a God is the simplest form of human life, when the child is still in the womb. It is precious and will one day become something so amazing, so real, so complex, that I know there must be a master Creator in all things. Show more Show less

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are sacred, the most sacred places on earth. Temples are used for man to commune with God and to make covenants with God. In other words, temples are places of the most special worship to God and a place of revelation. Temples have been around since the Old Testament, New Testament and are here on the earth today. Families can be joined together for eternity in the bond of marriage and children. Temples are a place of beauty, peace and awe in the wonderful relationship between deity and mankind.
