Hi I'm Tracy Autumn

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

About Me

Hi! I am a senior in college, studying Health Science, I want to become a Nurse or a PA. I love to read, listen to music, play sports and get outside. I come from a big family, I have four siblings and seven nieces and nephews. It's a lot of fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, however I have not always appreciated it as much as I should. It wasn't until high school when I started taking seminary that I really took hold of the gospel. I had a hard time during high school, my best friend of 13 years fell away from the church and I struggled myself with my membership because of it. What kept me going in the church was the special feeling I got when I learned something new about the church or when we were talking about Christ. We call this the Holy Ghost. I started to feel this more and more as I would listen, I never doubted the teachings of the church, I have always known deep inside that it was true. I have attended other churches and even went to a church camp of another faith. They were all great and they did teach good things, but I always felt that the Mormon church had all the pieces of the truth, or at least the closest to it. Through everything, what keeps me going is my deep and abiding love for my Savior, Jesus Christ. There were many times in my youth that I was in the depths of sorrow that I would pray to Heavenly Father and feel His love for me and I would think of Christ and how He loved me so much that He was willing to give His life for me. Something we call the Atonement. I KNOW that Jesus Christ came to this Earth in the Meridian of time to take upon Him the sins of the world so that we can some day return to live with Him and Heavenly Father. He not only Atoned for our sins, but our sorrows, which is something that has helped me become even closer to Him.

How I live my faith

There are many opportunities in our church to serve others, I have been able to take advantage of many of these opportunities. When I was young, my youth group would go over to the Catholic church and help with their soup kitchen. This was so much fun for me. Being health care minded, I love to take care of people and connect with them. I learned many things while I was there. In our church we also have monthly visits, where we are assigned to go visit certain people in our ward or local section. For the women, this is called visiting teaching. We are assigned two or three sisters and a companionship, normally two people, will go to their home and share a message with them. This is a great opportunity to get to know others of the same faith. You get to learn about them, their testimonies and things that they are interested in.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Tracy Autumn
Yes! We read in the King James Version of the Bible. There are many scriptures within the Bible that are very similar to scriptures we have in the Book of Mormon. There are wonderful stories about the Saviors life in Matthew, Mark, and John that would be a great loss if we did not study them. Often times when reading a scripture in the Book of Mormon during a class, we will reference a scripture in the Bible to give us additional insight. Show more Show less

How does the Church finance its operations?

Tracy Autumn
We pay tithing in our church, this is 10% of all your earnings. We believe that this is a commandment from God. We use tithing to pay for activities in our local wards and branches as well as to provide food and assistance to member in need. We also send hygiene kits, blankets and other things during times of distress, such as in Haiti. Show more Show less
