Hi I'm Ben

I'm a husband and father. I'm a dentist and musician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and a father of 3 wonderful children. My family means the world to me. I am an amateur musician with a great love of classical music. The instrument I play is the bassoon. I love fine chocolate, especially dark chocolate. I speak Spanish fluently and I have learned some Italian. I am a dentist by profession and I am teaching full time at a local dental school. I like to be outdoors - hiking, camping, road cycling or even just going out walking.

Why I am a Mormon

When Jesus asked his disciples, “Whom say ye that I am?” Peter answered, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus then explained that, “flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." Later, as he taught his disciples on the night before his crucifixion, he promised them that the Father would send a Comforter, the Holy Ghost, the “Spirit of Truth”. He told them that “He shall teach you all things… he shall testify of me” and “He will guide you into all truth”. I am a Mormon because of that Spirit of Truth which has taught me and guided me into truth. He has given me to feel the "peace of God" that "surpasses all understanding", helping me to feel and know what is true. And therefore I can say with Peter that I know that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, because it has been revealed to me by my Father which is in heaven, through His Holy Spirit. I am a Mormon because I know, by that same Spirit, that the Lord has restored His Church on the earth, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and that He leads His Church today just as he did anciently, through prophets and apostles. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, which, along with the Bible, helps me to draw nearer to God. I know that we are all children of a perfect Father in Heaven who loves us and watches over us with tenderness and care. I know that he hears and answers our prayers. He wants to help us and guide us to true, lasting peace and happiness. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I find closeness with my Father in Heaven and my Savior, Jesus Christ as I learn more about them and about who I am and why I am here. I find purpose in my life and hope for the future. I find teachings that bless me and my family as we do our best to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For these reasons, and many more, I feel blessed and happy to say that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to follow the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. In my relationships with my wife and kids I try to be the kind of husband and father that he would want me to be. I enjoy volunteering and providing service in the community. As a dentist I have been on a mission trip to rural areas of Guatemala to provide free dental care. I hope to be able to participate in many such trips in the future. In the church I work closely with the full-time missionaries. This has been a wonderful experience as I get to associate with these outstanding young men and the wonderful people they are teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love to see their excitement about what they learn. I really enjoy visiting people in their homes and discussing the great truths of the gospel and how they bless our lives and bring us peace and joy. I recognize that I am far from perfect and have much to learn, and yet I have faith that with the Lord's help I can improve and accomplish anything He would have me do.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a witness of the living reality of our resurrected Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, just like the apostles in the New Testament. God spoke to him and revealed his words and truth to him just as He did to Moses and Isaiah. Through what the Lord revealed to and restored through Joseph Smith, I have been able to increase and strengthen my faith in Jesus Christ and draw myself closer to Him. Show more Show less
