Hi I'm Stephen

I'm an Engineer, a Magician, a Woodworker, a Kilt Maker, a Martial Artist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an electrical engineer with 4 children, three boys and a girl. One son has completed his mission, and the other son is currently serving on his mission. My wife and I enjoy being with our children. I have many talents and hobbies. I enjoy designing circuits and writing computer programs. I fix cars and do most of the repairs around the house. For just plain hobbies, I enjoy woodworking, prestidigitation, martial arts, sourdough bread making, and making kilts.

Why I am a Mormon

A friend asked me once "Why are you a Mormon and not some other religion?" I had to pause for a moment to think of the answer. I asked him if he thought Adam was taught the true gospel, he said "Yes." I went on to explain that the people became wicked and God destroyed them with the flood, but he kept Noah. Got essentially pressed the reset button to use a computer metaphor. Then later came Moses, and God pressed the reset button again to restore the gospel to the Israelites. Later Jesus Christ came and the Gospel was reset again. Then finally after 1800 years, God pressed the reset button one more time with Joseph Smith. We can see fragments of these previous versions of the Gospel in many of the world religions, Christian and non-Christian, if you understand the Gospel enough to recognize the fragments. The truth of the Gospel is apparent and all around us. The hand of God is in so many things. The Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true Gospel, the evidence is clear to anyone who simply takes the time to learn it and then recognized it in other places.

How I live my faith

My faith is part of my everyday life, it is more involved than just on Sunday. There are activities with my children, and activities associated with my responsibilities. My past responsibilities have included working with the children under the age of 12 teaching them Sunday School, working with the young men ages 12-18 in Church activities and in Scouting, and teaching the adult Sunday School on many occasions. Among these responsibilities there are service opportunities to do service for others, such as picking up trash, weeding a field at a Church Farm, helping someone move. There is plenty for all to do.
