Hi I'm Benjamin

I grew up in Idaho, USA. I work for an international construction company. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband of over 12 years, a father of four boys and two girls. Recently while sitting next to a gentleman on a flight to Denver, we discussed the role of father in the home, and for one brief moment, it seemed like we had the solution to all the world's ills -fathers in the home who lead with love and righteousness. I enjoy fly fishing, hiking and being outdoors in the Rocky Mountains -especially with my family. Breathing the fresh air, hearing clear mountain streams rushing over stones and boulders or watching the sunset or stars helps me remember that I am not alone in the universe, and that God has a plan for me and my family and wants me and my family to return to him again some day. I work in international construction and love the oversized buildings, machinery, equipment and vessels that are part of industry. I occasionally have the opportunity to travel and meet people of various cultures and backgrounds. I love trying new foods, seeing new places and sending post cards home to my kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I've always had an affinity for doing what's right. It seems life always works out when you do the right thing. I've been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life. I have been taught to love God and my fellow man. I have been taught the gospel of Jesus Christ in the Holy Bible and The Book of Mormon -Another Testament of Jesus Christ. One main reason why I continue to be a member even after I've married and moved away from my parents is that I have gained a testimony through the Holy Ghost that God has called prophets on the earth today just as He did ancently. He has restored His holy priesthood -the authorized power of God to act in His name- to the earth. By that authority I have been baptized and married in a holy temple of God. If I continue to live righteously and obey the commandments and covenants I have made, that marriage will be binding not just on earth, but in heaven. You can know, as I know, that Christ has restored His church to the earth. Christ, in the New Testament, taught that by their fruits ye shall know them. The fruits of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are the people, and the Book of Mormon -another Testament of Jesus Christ. I urge you to read it for yourself. It contains the record of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas and of His visit to them following His resurrection in Jerusalem. Living the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ found in the scriptures and by going to church each week help me to be a better father, a better husband a better man. It can do the same for you.

How I live my faith

I served a full-time mission where I dedicated 2 years after high school and before college to preach to the people in southern California. I am now over the scouting program in my congregation from ages 8-18. I also oversee the children's program from 18months through 11 years. I love the youth because they are excited to learn and easily feel the promptings of the Spirit.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Each person on earth has divine Parentage. Your spirit is literally a son or daughter of God. We lived in heaven before we came to earth as a large family and were organized in families here on earth. Through families we gain experience in a loving and supportive environment, we learn, laugh, love and enjoy life. The first commandment given to man on earth pertained to his potential for parenthood. That first commandment to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force and families are the greatest source for happiness in life. I love my family and know I can be with them here and after this life. Show more Show less
