Hi I'm Jason Mitchell

I'm happiest when I'm with my wife and kids. I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and kids are the love of my life. We spend time together hiking the Oregon Coast, swimming, camping, gardening, reading stories, and making pancakes on Saturday mornings. One of my dreams is to build an isolated rustic mountain cabin along a river, not too far from home.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon home. Since my earliest years, I have tried to follow Jesus Christ and model my life after His. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is organized in such a way that it requires me to practice Christianity daily, not just believe in it. It puts opportunities in my path every day to serve others. It helps me understand and practice the essence of Christianity—something I could never do on my own. Over the years, I have come to know that the doctrines taught by the Church are true. The Savior's original gospel is found today in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It’s the original Christian church. Living the principles of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ brings security, happiness, stability and peace of mind.

How I live my faith

I believe that God, our Father in Heaven, has a specific purpose, or mission, for each of us to perform while we are here upon this earth. I try to live my purpose, with purpose, on purpose. I pray every day, to express gratitude and seek answers to the challenges of daily life. I study scripture to better understand who the Savior is and how He expects me to live. I try to emulate great men and women who follow Jesus Christ and live His teachings. I teach myself and my family. As a family, we pray together, study scripture, and do all we can to live by principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreation. I attend worship services each Sunday with my wife and children. In addition, I serve as a leader to 12 congregations of college-aged single adults where I spend 1 or 2 additional evenings each week meeting and counseling with amazing young men and women. I’m not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I have found great peace of mind as I strive to live in accordance to God's will.
