Hi I'm Susan

I'm a farmer's daughter. I'm a runner. I'm a wife and a mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a child, I grew up on a dairy farm milking cows, and as much as I had fun on the farm, I knew after high school, I wanted to pursue my education. I studied to become an elementary teacher. While in college, I also met my wonderful husband. My husband got a job offer down in Florida, so we picked up our things (which amounted to a couple of suitcases), and made the move. We have now been here in Florida for over three years, and have added our first child, a very cute baby boy to our family. Currently, I stay at home with my little man. He keeps me busy practicing the stairs, cleaning up dish detergent from the carpets, and reading Go Dog. Go. many, many times. Life can be busy and challenging with a little one, but it is worth it to me:)

Why I am a Mormon

Shortly after graduating high school, my grandmother, who I was very close to, passed away painfully battling cancer. It was a tragic event for my family. I remember feeling like nothing could comfort me. I remember feeling like I did not know where my life was going, who I wanted to become, and what I wanted to do. Thankfully, I had a friend who was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who shared a Book of Mormon with me and invited me to take the discussions with the missionaries. The message of the Restoration and Plan of Salvation gave me comfort that nothing else could. I prayed and knew that the Book of Mormon was another testament of Jesus Christ. I prayed and knew that God loves me and that there is a prophet on the earth today to guide and lead me to safety. For the first time, I felt that I really had a Heavenly Father and that Jesus Christ really did die to wash my sins away and provide me comfort whenever I needed it. Peace filled my heart and mind that I would see my grandmother again. My testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has changed my life. I know that I am a better person because this church taught me how to follow Jesus Christ. I am so grateful that the church was introduced to me when it was. My life has been truly, truly blessed.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by personally striving to remain close to my Father in Heaven and by repenting of my short-comings. Even after 7 years of being a member of this church, I still feel so much joy as I do the simple things like reading my scriptures, praying, attending church and the temple. Currently, I just finished serving as a chorister in the Primary teaching school-age children. I had the privilege of leading them in song every Sunday. As I have learned these chlidren's hymns for the first time along with the children, my testimony has increased of my Savior and also our purpose on earth. Now, I can continue to teach these songs to my own little boy:) . I love serving the children, and I love being around their sweet spirits. They always bring a smile to my face, a laugh in my heart, and even tears to my eyes as they share their thoughts and feelings about the world around them. I am very excited about my new calling which is being a Youth Sunday School Teacher. This is a special age for me, since this is when I began thinking about my own beliefs. I am always impressed about what I can learn from their comments. Being a teacher to the youth is one of the greatest ways I can think of to show my thanks to Heavenly Father for guiding me to His church. I also am part of the Relief Society or organization for women in the church. This organization has and continues to bless me with wonderful friendships wherever my husband and I move. I love this church so much!!

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Susan
Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of our Heavenly Father and that He lived a perfect life on earth. Because He lived a perfect life on earth, He was able to die for our sins. We believe that because of Jesus Christ's sacrifice of dieing innocently on the cross and suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, called the Atonement, He is our Savior, and that with His grace, we are perfected and can live in Heaven with Him and our Heavenly Father again. We praise Him, worship Him, and try our hardest to follow Him in every way. Jesus Christ is the foundation of all our beliefs. Show more Show less
