Hi I'm Jen

I love sports, pizza and Southern California. I'm a mom and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in sunny southern California. I recently moved from Connecticut to Seattle. I have a 1+ year old baby girl and am having fun figuring out the whole motherhood thing. I'm really into sports and I watch Sports Center a few times a day. My favorite teams are the LA Angels, LA Lakers, Anaheim Ducks, and last but not least, the Washington State Cougars. I graduated from WSU with a degree in Political Science in 2008. I love spending time with my daughter and my husband. They are the best! In my free time, I love reading and crafting. While living in CT, I was an intern at Connecticut Public Radio where I was able to write and record an essay about being a Mormon in New England. Over the past 6 years I have had the opportunity to live in upstate New York, Washington State (twice), and Connecticut and I have loved sharing my faith with those who don't know much about it. If you would like to hear more about my experience you can listen here: http://www.prx.org/pieces/43449.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was 18, during the middle of my freshman year of college. After making my decision to be baptized, I have never looked back. What originally attracted me to the church was how welcome and accepted I felt, something I didn't always feel in high school. After learning more about the church, I knew it was the place for me. I wanted to learn how to incorporate the will of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in my daily life. I wanted to live a clean life. And now, I am able to do those things. Sometimes its not always easy, but there are always so many people rooting for you to get right back up and its clear that Heavenly Father wants me to succeed. How could anyone not want that? I also know that the Book of Mormon is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ" and that accompanies the bible in teaching the truths of our Savior. I know that we have a living prophet today who guides and leads us in righteousness. I love reading his words and applying them to my daily life.

How I live my faith

One of the main ways I live my faith is by being an "example of the believers." I try very hard to stand up for what's right and to live my life in a clean, healthy way. As I do the things that Heavenly Father would have me do, I know that I am blessed as is my family.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes we are! Our full name is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints. Christ is central to our doctrine and the head of our Church. We believe in the Bible as well as the Book of Mormon which we know as "Another Testament of Jesus Christ." I believe that Christians are defined as followers of Christ, something that I consider all members of our church. Show more Show less
