Kaylee Rae: Mormon.

Hi I'm Kaylee Rae

About Me

I am a young single adult. I am currently in cosmetology school and love it!I love helping others to feel beautiful. You will find me snuggled up reading a good book or hitting the pavement with my running shoes on...yes i am an avid RUNNER. I just completed a half marathon this past spring and loved ALMOST every minute of it. :) I am a fan of chick flick movies and also comdies! I served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints back in Washington DC and it was the most rewarding 18 months of my life. I love to smile and be an example to others and teach others about the church!

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have lived in Utah my entire lilfe. My family are members and it has been a great blessing and priviledge of growing up in a home where LDS gospel principles were taught and lived. I was taught as a young girl about prophets, the plan of Salvation for us and our families, the truthfullness of the Book of Mormon, baptism and the Holy Ghost. I was prepared and baptized when i was 8 years old and recieved the Gift of the Holy Ghost. This wonderful gift of the Holy Ghost, available to all through the proper authority of the priesthood has given me great peace and assurance during hard time, guidance and direction, feelings of knowledge and understanding as my testimony has grown and helped to stay on the straight and narrow path. Through out the years, I have seen how living these righteous principles of faith in Jesus Christ, keeping my covenants made at baptism, being able to repent each day, the importance of prayer and reading scriptures has helped me find happiness and peace each day, admist being in the troubled world we live in. This doesn't mean I haven't had my own share of trials and challenges. Believe me, i have had some tough times but although the hard times, I know that I have a Savior I can turn to for peace and a loving Heavenly Father who knows me individually and is ready to help, as He is with all His children. I know that Jesus Christ lives. I know the Book of Mormon is true, which truly is another testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and goes hand in hand with the Bible to help us draw closer to the Savior. I know that there is a living prophet on the Earth today along with 12 apostles to watch over the Lord's church and guide us and direct the Saints under the direction of the Lord. God has a plan for all His children and wants us all to return to live with Him again. He has provided a way for us to be happy in this life. I know that this is the true church. This testimony has come piece by piece and bit by bit. But it has sustained my throughout my life and it is the one thing no one can take away and I know what I have said it true!

Personal Stories

Please share your feelings/testimony of the Restoration of the Gospel.

As a missionary, I loved (and still do love) teaching the "good news" we as members of the church have to share with the world...that the gospel has been restored! I know Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. I know it. I cannot deny it. It is so wonderful to know that God loves us now just as much as He did back in the times of Moses and has provided us in these times with a living prophet who acts as a mouthpiece for Him. I know that the 12 apostles are special witnesses of the Savior and testify of His divinity. I have had a few instances where I have been in their presence and I know they are truly called of God to build up His kingdom here on the Earth. Through the Restoration of the Gospel, we have temples which help us better understand our part in God's plan and also allow worthy members of the church the opportunity to perform sacred ordinaces such as baptism in behalf of the deceased. I am grateful for the Book of Mormon and know it is the word of God.

Can you think of a specific challenge in your family that Gospel Principles helped overcome?

When I was 18 years old, my twin brother was suddenly killed in a car accident. I was devastated, as was my family, and I began to ponder about the value of life and questions came to mind about the life hereafter. I believed i would see my brother again, but it was at the moment in my life i couldn't just believe, I had to know. Through study of the scriptures and much time on my knees in personal prayer and over time, I know I will see my brother again. I felt the redeeming power of the Savior's atonment work in my life to help my heart heal and find peace once more. I know that Christ was next to me and even carried me through and while i miss him and think about him every day, I know I will see him one day. This event also helped me to serve a LDS mission and I was able to teach people about God's plan for His families and about the Plan of Salvation. I knew that I could help them see that God does love us and put us into families for a reason and wants those relationships to last for eternity! That is why it is so wonderful to have LDS temples on the Earth because we can truly gain a better understanding of the role we play in our individual families and God's eternal family.

How I live my faith

I have been able to serve in different callings of the church. It has been wonderful to volunteer my time in helping further the work of the Lord by serving, helping, teaching and uplifting the other members of my ward. I have had the wonderful opportunities over the past few years to work with the women as a leader and a teacher. I am excited because this summer i have the opportunity to be a counselor for a young single adult program set up by the church called Especially For Youth. That is a program available to teenagers ages 14-18 years of age. They are able to spend a week together with other kids their age, learning about gospel principles like faith, love, service, strengthening their testimony, following the example of Jesus Christ, etc. It is a wonderful experience for these young kids to truly learn how to live what they believe.
