Hi I'm Laura Ashley

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

About Me

Hi. I am almost 23 years old and am married to a wonderful man for almost three years. We have one son and he is right now six months old. I am working on a degree in Special Education. My hobbies include reading, playing with my son, and taking walks.

Why I am a Mormon

Before I became a Mormon, I did not have a purpose in life. Sure, I was working towards a degree and I had friends, but I fully did not understand why I was on this earth. I remember hearing my grandmother talk about Jesus and I just would tune out because I did not understand who Jesus was. It wasn't until I hit rock bottom during my freshman year in college and I believe I was saved before I knew what the Mormon church was. I felt some sort of peace that I had never felt before. I testify today that that was the Holy Ghost guiding me to a young man working at a restaurant. After getting out of an abusive relationship, I met my husband and that is who introduced me to the church. He was not active in the Mormon church at the time but I was very curious about the Mormon church. I learned that notions I had had about this church, the cultist mentality was lies. It was the furthest thing from the truth. When I began taking the missionary lessons, I began to feel loved and appreciated. I began to understand why I am here on this earth. I was baptized on November 17, 2007 and I have this precious pearl in my life. That pearl is the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and I know that without him, the restored gospel would not exist. I know that Jesus Christ died so we could live forever. I testify to you that the gospel of Jesus Christ will change your life forever. I know that families can be together forever and that really means a lot when you have children. I look into my son's eyes and I know that we will be a family forever. I look into my husband's eyes and know that he will be my husband forever. I love this church and because of my faith, I love my life.

How I live my faith

Right now, my calling is in the Primary as a Nursery teacher. I love being a Nursery teacher and love working with children ages 18 months to two years. We sing songs, teach lessons about Jesus Christ, and play with toys. I think this is one of the greatest callings anyone can ever have. I also help my husband plan scout activities. He is actually called to be a scout leader for 11 years olds. I have so much fun reading about the scouts especially since my son will be in scouts eventually. I also live my faith by attending church meetings, reading scriptures every night, having family home evening, and listening to church music.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Laura Ashley
YES YES and YES! We love the Bible as it the first testament of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is the second testament of Jesus Christ. We need the Bible in order to understand the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Laura Ashley
We increase our faith of Jesus Christ through pray, church attendance, and reading the Book of Mormon and the Bible. I cannot tell you how important it is to do those three things. We can better understand Jesus Christ by just praying. Show more Show less
