Hi I'm Allen

I'm a Mormon. I am a management consultant. I co-founded a non-profit organization working with youth.

About Me

I am a grandparent of ten great kids. They are a joy in my life. I have been married to my wife for over 43 years; we are best friends. I enjoy scuba diving. When I am under water, I have a real sense I am "flying", another great interest of mine. Educationally, I have a law degree. Professionally, I am a management consultant, running my own business. I enjoy helping others professionally and personally. I co-founded a non-profit organization that helps youth to serve those who are critically ill by raising money for children hospitals.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of have gained a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the principles of the Gospel taught by the Church. Growing up, my parents were less active in the faith. I chose to go to church because of the welcoming spirit at church and because as I was taught the principles of truth, the Spirit bore witness to my soul that what I was learning was true. At age 18, I decided I needed to find out for myself it the LDS Church was true. I was taught that if I read the Book of Mormon with a desire to know if it was true, I would receive an answer if I prayed. I put that promise to the test and can say without any reservation that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, another testament of Jesus Christ. I have never had even one doubt about why I am a Mormon since that moment. God answers prayers. I have developed a strong witness over the years that Jesus is the Savior of the world; and that He died on the cross to pay for my sins if I truly repent. I have learned of God's great love for me personally; He truly is a loving Heavenly Father. Being a Mormon has taught me who I am, why I am here on this earth at this time, and of my potential to return to live with Heavenly Father once I complete my mission here on earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do my very best to live the two great commandments - "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind" and "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." There are not any paid ministers in our church, so over the years, I have served in various callings, working with children, youth and adults. I have served both as a leader of a local congregation and as the leader of a group of congregations. I have seen the dedication and hard work of others who want to follow the example of Jesus Christ in serving others. I have also witnessed the generosity and love of others as they contribute their money, to those you have special needs such as rent, utilities, food as well as needs of understanding. I have seen families, living the principles of the Gospel by sharing their time, compassion and love with those who are struggling mentally and emotionally. As a result of the many great examples, I have wanted to do more and be better.
