Hi I'm Sal

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I converted to the Church 18 years ago. I spent the first twenty years of my life as a Catholic. I am married with five adopted children. I am currentlt disabled and a stay at home father.

Why I am a Mormon

We had a neighbor that lived across the street of our new house. This was a family that just glowed. They were a family that knew I wanted to be more like. One day I asked them if I could learn more about the Book of Mormon or the Mormon Church. Over the next several weeks I received a copy of the Book of Mormon and was invited to attend Church with the family. On my first visit to Church it happen to be the Christmas program with the little children singing and speaking. I knew in that first Church meeting that I was going to join this Church. The spirit was so strong and it spoke to my soul. I started taking the missionary lessons the first week of January. I knew that first week after praying about what I had been taught that I had to be baptised there was no question at all. I knew that the Mormon Church was where I need to be. After 18 years I belive the same thing. The Teachings of Jesus Christ makes me who I am today.

How I live my faith

Being Mormon is a lot more involved than being Catholic and I wouldnt change a thing. I love the Church and everything that I do within the Church and the opportunites that I get to serve others. If other organizations and churches did for its people what the Mormon Church does for its people then the world would be a much better place. I love being able to home teach families. This gives me the opportunity to meet and serve others that I may not have interacted with before. We are truly blessed when we serve others. And we get that opportunity often. I also have the opportuity to handle ward finances and teach the 8 year old Sunday school class.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Mormons are just like everone else. We all have our traditions that have been passed down from our families. We spend Monday eveings with our families and have what we call Family Home Eveing. A lesson, a song, a game, and a treat. It really help bring families together. On Sundays we wear traditional Sunday clothes. Women is dresses or skirts and men in slacks shirts and ties. You should wear YOUR nicest clothes. If that happens to be a pair of jeans and a tee-shirt then that is what it is. We want you to be comfortable and you won't be judged. We celebrate every holiday Chirstmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Forth of July, Halloween, Memorial Day all the holidays. Show more Show less
