Hi I'm David William

I live in South Carolina with my wife and three daughters. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love spending time being a dad...riding bikes, going swimming, watching movies, reading scriptures, and taking road trips with my family. I have visited all 48 of the continental United States, and I love meeting people from all walks of life. I work in strategic marketing for a national chain in the restaurant industry, so I'm always looking for the next great meal that our customers will love.

Why I am a Mormon

My favorite version of scripture says, "the Spirit speaketh of things as they really are, and of things as they really will be." That's why I'm a Mormon...because God has spoken to my heart through the voice of His Spirit, and I feel with all my heart that this is His true church. As I study the words of prophets and apostles, both ancient and modern, I also feel the truth of their words as they teach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I see the blessings that being a Mormon brings into my life everyday...particularly as it relates to my family. The gospel is the primary source of our joy together, and I know that if we are faithful to the promises we've made to God, that we can be together forever.

How I live my faith

For me, living my faith starts at home. I study the Bible and other sacred works of scripture, such as the Book of Mormon, to learn about my Savior Jesus Christ and how I can become more like Him. I pray daily to my Heavenly Father, and try to do the things He would want me to do...be more loving, more patient, more forgiving, and more kind. I also serve as a Bishop in my local congregation. I love spending time with the other members of my congregation while we teach one another, learn from each other, laugh together, and experience the joy of serving one another. I truly feel that we are all one big family, doing the best we can to help one another be the people that our Savior wants us to be.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

David William
We fully believe in the eternal yet very personal gift of God's grace, offered to all through the death and resurrection of His Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. None of us--regardless of how good of a life we try to lead--could ever qualify to return to live with God in Heaven. Each of us is dependent on grace, which allows us to repent and be forgiven of our sins. Where we stand apart from some other Christian faiths is our understanding of how one qualifies for the grace of God. We believe that we are a covenant people...this means that when we make promises to God, we believe he makes promises to us in return. So, rather than focusing on a verbal acceptance of Jesus as Savior as the catalyst for grace, we believe that we qualify for grace based not only on the promises we make, but in the very way in which we live our lives. As the Book of Mormon teaches so poignantly, "we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do." None of us will ever be perfect in this life...but we can, with the help of our Savior, qualify for the blessings of grace through the way that we live our lives, doing the best that we can to follow the pattern of living that Jesus outlined for us during his mortal ministry on the earth.
