Hi I'm Eden

I'm a husband, dad, grandfather, portfolio manager, I live in B.C. Canada, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married for nearly 30 years, we have 4 children and 1 grandchild. I love the outdoors, especially camping and hiking with my family. I like waterskiing, riding my motorcycle and keeping physically active -- but most of all I just like being with my wife and family doing whatever.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a home where my mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and my father wasn't. For the most part, my father was supportive of our participation in the Church. As I grew up, my father encouraged me (along with my siblings) to attend church but only if I felt it was right for me. Consequently, at a fairly young age I found that I wanted to know if the things taught by our Church were true. Throughout my growing up years I recall feeling good about our Church's teachings however it wasn't until my 12th grade year in high school that I could say I had gained a personal witness of the truth of the teachings of our Church. Within a matter of a few weeks I had a close friend and then an older brother pass away. My friend's family were not members of our faith and so I found myself at their home on several occasions sharing my feelings about what we call the Plan of Salvation or the Plan of Happiness which teaches us where we come from, why we're here on earth and where we go after death. As I shared these truths with my friends family I received a witness for myself. Little did I know that within a few weeks I would need to lean on this personal witness for myself. Having a sure knowledge of our true relationship with God, namely that He is our Heavenly Father and that He knows and loves each of His children has been a strength to me throughout my life.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving in the Church and I have shared in many interesting assignments. Because we do not have a paid ministry everyone partipates in helping out. I have served in Scouting and youth programs as well as teaching Sunday School and I have been a bishop of one of our congregations. Our whole family participates in the Church -- even our children have responsibilities in the Church, they are given opportunities to teach and lead in their respective classes and youth groups. Together we support one an other in our Church responsibilities. Sometimes it's a challenge balancing life, however, I know when I focus on those things that matter most, I generally find that I'm able to be balanced in my life.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I am so grateful to know that God hasn't forgotten His children today. It is a great comfort to know that not only did He care to speak His will to His children on earth many centuries ago but that He continues to speak His will today through living prophets called of God just like Moses. Are Mormons Christians?

This is often one of the really interesting questions I hear from my friends who belong to other Christian faiths. The best way I can answer this question is to encourage people to examine the lives of members of our Church. I believe if someone is truly Christian, they will behave as Christians and so "by their fruits ye may know". I also like to point out to my friends that the name of our Church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints -- it's not the church of just anyone, it's the Church of Jesus Christ. Yes, we are Christians. Show more Show less
