Hi I'm Jacob

About Me

My world revolves around my three young children and loving wife. We have our challenges, but at the end of the day, I am happiest when I'm with them. I have finally decided to go back to college, and I'll be starting shortly with the hopes of taking on a career that will be a better long-term fit for me and allow me to provide better for my family. I enjoy motorcycles, trucks, watches, camping, foreign language studies, theology, computers, and family-focused activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I haven't had many people ask me this question, but I'm happy to answer it here, hoping that my reasons may resonate with you and encourage you in your faith. Joining the Church, for me, was not a difficult decision, as I was raised in a Mormon family. The test of my faith came after I was baptized and had to make decisions as a teenager about what I really believed, and how I was going to act. My reasons now are different from what they were then. Now, I am Mormon because I believe God called Joseph Smith to establish the Mormon church and that we have holy prophets today, just as we had in times of old. I believe God speaks to man and continues to reveal His will and purposes. I believe he not only speaks to His prophet, but He speaks to me, to encourage me along my way, to guide me, strengthen me against sin and weakness, and I know He loves me because of the peace that has washed over my heart and mind in moments of sincere prayer and searching for His forgiveness and grace.

How I live my faith

Each Sunday, I attend Church to renew my faith and lift my spirit. About a year ago, I was given a teaching assignment with the 12-13 year-old youth group. So, each Sunday, we meet for an hour and I lead a discussion about learning and living the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My faith is also at the center of my home and family life. I read Bible and Book of Mormon stories with my young children...and my little two year old girl is in such a habit of praying, that we can't go sleep until we kneel together as a family in prayer. It's really sweet.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, We worship Jesus Christ  I think some people observing the Mormon faith could get this impression sometimes based on how strongly we revere him as a prophet. Our faith is in Christ the Lord, and we recognize that Joseph Smith was His prophet and therefore we will recognize Joseph Smith's teachings as God's teachings. Show more Show less
