Hi I'm Rita....

I am Samoan born in New Zealand. Reside in Australia and I am MORMON!

About Me

I am a single mother raising six children. Sometimes life can be hard at times and most times I can laugh about it all! I am always finding ways to become self reliant and not to rely on others. Being an example of the gospel, enables my children to seek for a higher sense of belonging. To become better Parents when they in turn walk that path. I cherish my moments with my children. They are my life and my most cherished possessions. With the aid of my Father in Heaven, I strive daily to do the simple things like, family prayers, scripture reading and family home evening. Its not always possible, but when you fall, get back up and carry on. Having a sense of humor is a must when you are a Mum! Being positive helps so I make sure of it by saying my prayers. It is the key to good Parenthood. No ones perfect so never GIVE UP...

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am nothing without it! Simply put. Because of my membership in this Church, I have become a better person, a better Mother, a better listener. I have improved daily to become less judgmental of others. I have learnt to love 'unconditionally'. Being a Mormon to me is like living Life without oxygen. My very existence depends on what I know that comes from the principles I have been taught my whole life. I gained my own testimony and can stand on my own merits and say, that I love the gospel not because of what my parents taught me, but for whom I have become as a result of it. My children have grown to love me more now simply because I have changed to a better person. I can give and love and laugh and cry and be happy, simply because of what I know. Life is freedom to live with a peace of mind ensured by my loving Father in Heaven who knows me and I know him.

How I live my faith

My life is a reflection of my faithfulness in striving to always try to become better than I was the day before. It is a joy to have a moment in time for others. Listening to their concerns and finding ways to brighten their day. We visit other sisters within our church area, to give them a message of love and hope. Service has been a wonderful experience in teaching me to be unselfish and losing myself in the presence of others. I can testify that my faith has given me opportunity to live as my Savior Jesus Christ. Though, I am not perfect, my path can be simple if I live the sweet simple truths of the Gospel in my daily life. This I do by my example in living everyday to share my love with other Mothers and Sisters who are burdened by the trials of motherhood. This brings me happiness in knowing my Life can be used for good to give back to others who need daily strength. My faith enables me to become a better daughter of God and a better Mother to my children. I know of no other strength that has been there for me but that which has been parted to me through the gift of Prayer. It has been my substance here for me while I walk this mortal life. My faith gives me courage to live, to learn, to give and to Love.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is when we know in our heart that we have made changes to our personal living because of how we live our life daily. We can testify that the gospel principle of prayer is true because it helps me get through my day. A testimony can testify that I am a better person because of the gospel principles I live in my life that I have been taught from the time I was a young child in primary to my adulthood life. Every first Sunday of the month, parents, youth and children can stand up and share their testimonies with the congregation through, a short story, a blessing from Father in Heaven or an experience. What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

It teaches us that we can be prepared to take a step to a new life. A new way of living. When we are ready to give up those things in this life and want a change, then baptism is a way of washing away all our sins and a new beginning emerges when we come out of that water. Show more Show less
