Hi I'm Natalia

I'm a Colombian by birth and a Canadian by hearth and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for about 5 years , I grew up in Colombia and move to a another country when I was 17, it was here in Canada when I learned about the church. I grew up in a small city in the south region of Colombia, my dad is a pilot and from a very young age as my dad used to take in his plane I marvel at God's creations. I have always loved nature and being outdoor had given me that peace. When I was 8 my parents got separated and it was a very hard time for our family, my mom specially had a hard time and clearly remembered how when circumstances would get the worst I would often see my mom praying on her knees and saying: " The Lord will answer". It was her example that lead me to have faith in God because I saw my Mother's prayers being answered. I am now a mom of a 6 month old baby and my husband and I love music and teaching our baby the best of Colombia like the traditional music and dance.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and it is Christ the reason why I belong to the church. Before I learned about Mormons I tough they where "strange" people I mean that's how I perceived it, until l learned that one of my best friends at school was one and invited me to go to a church activity. I grew up being a Catholic and and had some knowledge of God but when I heard Mormons talking about God they spoke in a very personal way. I have never prayed in my own words or think that God could know me so personal. I was given a Book Mormon and a booklet about Joseph Smith. As I read the Book of Mormon and the story of how Jesus Christ visit the Americas I felt something that I really needed and it was that God loved me and He loves all his children, I also prayed and ask God to guide me. I was going trough a really hard time in my life and it got worst as I desired to follow God but as I came to church I meet wonderful people that helped and shared their experience and how their faith have helped them. The more I learned about being a Mormon the more I felt the desire to be baptize and follow Jesus Christ, and it was when I was baptize that I learned that Jesus Christ is real and his Atonement sacrifice was for me also, that God loves me and wants to be near me. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy to have God and Jesus Christ near me.

How I live my faith

When I became a member of the church I never though I would be so busy and that I would enjoy it so much, I grew up in the catholic faith which was really different but being catholic gave me the foundation of Faith and knowledge of the scriptures that has help me to be a teacher and to share what I believe. I love being a Mormon and I had been able to be part of Youth programs that help Young Women to learn principles that I feel have been forgotten or diminished in this world, principles as Virtue, Good works, divine nature, etc..as young women learned this values they could feel that they really are Daughters of God and that they are of great influence in this world, being able to help those young women has help me a lot to treasure my life as women. This year I returned from serving as fulltime missionary and was an amazing experience, I met so many wonderful people from all faiths and learn how people in all faiths worry about the future and wonder if there really is God in world with so many troubles, I love to be able to share with them that I knew that there is God and that He is eager to let them know that He is and that there is hope. I am now a Wife and a Mom and living my faith gives me hope for the future to know that I can have happiness as I treasure the teachings of Jesus Christ and seek to be good with others and know that this life is just a small portion of an eternity, it doesn't make life easier or less complicated but it gives me peace when we have hard times to know that God will help me if I ask in Faith.
