Hi I'm Erin

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an American living in Europe with my husband. We have been married a little over one year. I studied Information Systems. My husband is working on his studies. We enjoy spending time together, seeing the sights in Europe, and spending time with family (even though they are far away!).

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is true. I know it with my whole heart. Although I was raised in the church, I need to find out for myself if it is true and if it is the religion I want to stay with. Through prayer and times of quiet contemplation I have been able to find out for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only completely true church on Earth. Christ himself is the leader of this church. He has called prophets to teach us true principles and help us stay on the way back to Christ and our Heavenly Father. I know this to be true.

How I live my faith

My faith influences my whole life. Knowing what I know, I find making daily decisions easier. I know if I have an important decision to make, that I can pray and get the answers I need. Each day, my husband and I read scriptures together. The things we learn from the scriptures help us to be better people, to love our neighbors, and improve our relationship with each other. My husband and I attend church together every week. At church, we look for ways to serve others. After the meetings we discuss the things we learned and the feelings we felt. We look for things we can do to improve ourselves in the coming week. In our community, we are unique. Our town has 20,000 people three of whom are members of our faith. Our neighbors notice that we attend church regularly and ask us questions about what we believe. We are happy to tell them about our faith and respect what they believe. Having so few members in our town, we are likely to be the first Mormons some people meet. We do our best to show that we have faith in Christ and that through our faith we have found joy.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

As prohesied in the by the Apostles in the Bible, there would be a falling away Apostasy from the church organized by Christ 2 Thessalonians 21-3. During this time, many churches were organized claiming to be Christ's chuch. None of these churches had the authority to direct Christ's church on Earth. That authority was lost when the Apostles were killed. The teachings of these churches were different although they all pointed to the Bible as the source for their teachings. This created to confusion and the creation of even more churches. Honest, good people were looking for the truth - the church Christ established the church talked about in the Bible. God didn't plan to leave His children in this state of confusion forever. He wants us to know how we can return to him. The heavens were opened in our times and the church of Christ was restored. Joseph Smith was called as a prophet to restore the church of Christ. He was given the same authority the Apostles of old had. Since that time there has been a prophet on the Earth. God continues to reveal his truths to his prophet today. The bible is a valuable tool for learning about Christ and our Father in Heaven, but it does not contain all the words they have revealed. The restoration helps us learn more about God and his plan for us. Through the restoration I have found it easier to understand the bible. The bible contains the word of God. Through the restoration, God continues to speak. Show more Show less
