Hi I'm Lauren

I'm a diaper changer, a super hero side kick, a boo boo kisser, a hide and seeker, a wife, a college graduate and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah with my mother and father and seven siblings. All growing up I loved to play sports and was on numerous athletic teams. This love of sports would prove to be a great blessing in catching my husband later in life. After high school, I went to college and studied Geography and Art History. Two of my passions. While in college I played on many intramural sports teams but it was when I was a senior and played on a women's flag football team that I finally met my soon to be husband. I was the star quarterback and he was our faithful coach. We hit of off immediately and have now been married for 4 years. We have a little boy who brings us so much joy. We love to sing songs, play games, search for bugs, find airplanes in the sky and have tickle wars.

Why I am a Mormon

My Mother and Father joined the church before I was born. I grew up in a home that taught the teachings of Jesus Christ and the importance of following his example. We were taught to love the Savior. This love of Jesus Christ has helped me have the strength to meet life's hardships with courage. It has been through practicing and living my faith that I have come to know of its truth. However, there came a time where I realized that my faith required a lot of commitment. I remember one Sunday morning in college waking up and saying to myself, "I don't have to go to church today". I layed there and toyed with the idea of not going but ultimately I got up and went to church. It was that experience that solidified in my mind the importance of our choices in this life. I have choosen to continue to live my life as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know it is true. It has answered the questions of life like where I came from, what my purpose is and where I am going. It has been this knowledge that continues to bless my life with peace and understanding.

How I live my faith

While in college I had an opportunity one summer to work with the youth in our church. It was this opportunity that helped me recognized my love of teaching. I subsequently decided to serve a mission and was called to share the gospel in Scotland. I had many wonderful experiences with the people of Scotland and still have many life long friends from that experience. Today, I continue to teach a class once a month with the women of our congregation. I also take the time to visit other women in our church and make sure their needs are being meet. As a family, once a week we have a family evening where we play games, have a treat and learn about the Savior. My faith has helped me recognize the importance of family and spending time together. We also read our scriptures nightly and pray together daily. This practice has helped us draw closer to the Lord and also to one another. Ultimately my faith has shown me the importance of practicing kindness, compassion, understanding, charity and love. Although I am not perfect, we strive to practice those attributes daily.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries share a message about Jesus Christ and how his gospel has been restored on the earth today through a living prophet. This message is called the message of the restoration. They will convey to you how God is the same yesterday, today and forever and how he continues to call prophets in our day. It is through these prophets that the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored. They will then share the tangible evidence of this message called the Book of Mormon which is another Testament of Jesus Christ. They will ask you to read and pray about its truthfulness, it is through your desire to know the truth that you can receive your own understanding of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ which has been restored through his Prophet Joseph Smith.
