Hi I'm Jonathan

I grew up in Tasmania. I am a brother to 5 siblings, I am a student and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a small farm in Tasmania with my family, in which there were 4 other kids. I grew up learning to work hard and have fun. I kept chickens as a hobby, and enjoyed being around my family. I went through school and graduted from year 12 in 2001. I have worked in retail, sales, and even in an abattoir. Recently I served a mission in Wellington New Zealand. I loved it!, now I am studying accounting and filling shelves in a shop to pay for it. When I graduate I plan to open my own accounting/book keeping business. I enjoy the outdoors, especially kayaking and bushwalking, growing my own food and reading.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the church, in a small congregation. We were close as a family. My parents taught about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and gave me the knowledge I needed to form my own beliefs. I loved learning about Christ and his Atonement or sacrifice for us. In my early teens I developed OCD or obsessive compulsive disorder. This experiance became a great challenge to me and my family. It was my faith in God and Jesus Christ that helped me to cope with what seemed like an insurmountable block on my lifes path. But even though I had faith, I still had to decide for myself whether or not the Church of Jesus Christ was true and if Joseph Smith really was a prophet or if the Book of Mormon was true. In Moroni in chapter 10 verse 4-5 ( a book in the Book of Mormon) it read that, if I pray and ask God if these things are true, he will tell me by the power of the Holy Ghost. Just like it says in James 1 vs 5 in the Bible. Well I prayed, and it didn't happen the first time, but as I continued to pray I became more sincere and eventually I recieved a witness that came as a feeling of peace and joy that these things were true. Now everyday when I read the Book of Mormon and go to church, I feel that same spirit, It has helped me to live closer to God and to try harder to keep his commndments. As I do this I become more sure that the path I am following is the right one. All of this, brings me a lot of joy in my day to day life especially with all the confusion and troubles in the world. This is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I try to do my best every day in doing what Jesus would have me do! its that simple! At church I teach the 12-13 year olds in Sunday School. This year we are learning about prophets and how important it is to have them as guides. I enjoy helping them come to know Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ. I also like to sing in our choir even though it might be just me that enjoys hearing it!
