Hi I'm Buck

Born and raised in central California I'm raising my own family here with my wife --my best friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I still date each other. We try to go out every week. However, sometimes it's just to get milk and bread on Saturday night. I like to spend one on one time with each and every one of my four kids at least once a week. We call it their TWEEK week Time With Each and Every Kid. Tonight I went with my oldest son to get ice-cream. To provide for my family I write software. I love it. Life isn't necessarily easier because of my faith, but it gives me strength and understanding. I know my Savior lives.

Why I am a Mormon

When God communicates with His children, it's usually not in person. Most of the time He lets us know things like right and wrong through His Spirit. I'm not a Mormon because the doctrine is logical or because someone convinced me it's right. I'm a Mormon and choose to follow these teachings because I feel He has told me through His Spirit that they're true as I try my best to live them.

How I live my faith

Several times each year our family helps in the church's grape vineyard. It's a vineyard owned by the church where members donate time to harvest grapes to be dried for raisins. I think it's wonderful that these raisins will end up going out to people in need all over the world. I traveled to Brazil when I was 19 to teach people about Jesus. I absolutely loved it while I was there. I learned more fully to appreciate my parents and the comforts of home. More importantly I learned more about myself and my Savior as I tried to serve others. I live for my family. A few years ago we decided to move back to California after being away for several years. My new job and our new house meant I'd be home a lot more and we would be nearer to parents, siblings, and cousins. Once per month we all get together for home-made ice-cream!

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

I like to help any friends that need help. Within the last year or so, I've helped a buddy paint his house and another buddy move to a new house. Neither is a Mormon. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Mostly they will talk with you about the Savior Jesus Christ - about His life and His example, about His church and his apostles, about His role in God's plan for you and all of us. The missionaries keep the discussion pretty flexible though, and they will talk about things you might have questions about for sure. Show more Show less
