Hi I'm Eric

About Me

I have spent a large part of my adult life working in law enforcement. My hobbies include reading and fly fishing. I enjoy the out of doors and feel closest to God while in them. As I watch my children grow up I am concerned with the direction of our world. The Gospel gives me great comfort while raising my kids and as I go through my day.

Why I am a Mormon

I can sum this up in one word... Truth. I spent my preteen years in another Christian religion, and when I was taught about Jesus, I always pictured him with a body, when I said my prayers I pictured my heavenly father as a person who listened. The concept that I worship something that isn't there, isn't tangible never made sense to me. When Joseph Smith Saw God the Father and his son Jesus Christ he forever brought out the truth in this mater. While reading the Bible as a youth and later I read in Mathew Jesus talking about prophets, I realized that there should be one on the earth. In our church we have a prophet, one who leads us and guides us through this earth. His teachings and direction are a comfort in my trials through this life.

How I live my faith

In our church we have a volunteer unpaid ministry, I currently serve as an branch missionary leader of our church. In the past I have worked with the youth of the Church through the young men's/young women's organizations and taught Sunday school classes. Our church offers us many options to grow through service. in each job we fulfill we grow a little spiritually and we gain knowledge.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

When I served a Mission in England in the Early 80's I had saved money while working jobs in High School, this along with Donations from friends and My Parents helping paid for my expenses while I was serving. Missionaries work 7 days a week with only a few hours off to do laundry, write letters and see some of the area that they serve in there is no time to earn money while they are serving as missionaries.
