Hi I'm Gordon B.

I've been a mormon my whole life and have been happily married in an LDS Temple

About Me

I was born and raised in Oregon. I enjoy sports and spending time with my family and friends. I have been married for almost 3 years and have a beautiful daughter who is so great. I recently graduated with my bachelor's degree in Finance, and have just started an internship.

Why I am a Mormon

I could write for days about why I am a mormon, but what it comes down to is this: This church was restored by Jesus Christ himself through a prophet chosen by Heavenly Father. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church that Jesus Christ formed when he was with the original 12 Apostles. This is the only church to claim this. There is a living Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who is directed by Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father, just as Heavenly Father had done in the Bible and Book of Mormon times. There are 12 Apostles who act under the direction of the Prophet and his two counselors, (also Apostles). The Priesthood as spoken of in The New Testament, was given to Joseph Smith and has been handed down to members of the church since then. Aside from the organization of the Lord's church, I have felt the influence of the Holy Ghost teach me that what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches and what the Book of Mormon teaches are true and are what the Lord has brought forth to the world for our benefit and Joy.

How I live my faith

My faith is in Jesus Christ, who is the savior of the world. I take my responsibility as a husband and father very seriously. My and my wife's responsibility is to raise our family in the way that Heavenly Father wants our children to be raised. We need to teach our children about Jesus and Heavenly Father. I desire that every one of my children will know for themselves through prayer, studying the scriptures (The Old Testament, The New Testament, The Book of Mormon and The Doctrine and Covenants), and feeling the fruits of the Holy Spirit as taught in Galatians 5:22-23 (The New Testament) and Mosiah 4:20 (The Book of Mormon) that this church is Jesus Christ's church and this is His gospel.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Gordon B.
Let me first say that anyone can come visit our church, and you are encouraged to come and see for yourself what we learn, teach and live. The meetings last 3 hours and are broken into 3 meetings of equal time. The congregation is also split based on age and gender for more direct discussions and support. Children ages 18 months through 12 years old attend a meeting called Primary where they learn songs and also learn about Jesus Christ. The main meeting is called Sacrament Meeting. Every member of the congregation is given the opportunity to partake of the bread and water which represent Jesus Christ's flesh and blood. This was taught by Jesus and recorded in the book of John, chapter 6 of the New Testament. I want to say also, that after the meeting is over you will feel peace and a sincere sense of happiness. You will never regret going to our church meetings. :) Show more Show less
