Hi I'm Chuck Nielsen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a landscape contractor, husband, father of 4 and have 6 grandchildren! I have surfed most of my life and love living in southern California. I married my high school sweetheart after serving a mission for the church in 1981.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were both born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I was raised in the Mormon faith. It wasn't until I was 18 years old before I decided that I needed to know for myself whether or not I actually believed what I had been raised with. I began looking carefully at the story of Joseph Smith and his desire to know which of all churches was true. I connected with that and felt that I needed to stand independent from all people in my faith. After studying carefully and seeing that Jesus Christ is the center of this church and that Joseph Smith was called as a modern day prophet I realized that I needed to know and have witness of my own that this was actually true and not some fantastic story. On Feb 11th in 1978, I prayed, really for the first time in my life, for an answer. I prayed well into the early morning hours, pleading to know, I had to know, so that I could move forward in my life one way or another with or without this church. Finally the most comfortable and accepting sensation came over me, I felt perfectly at peace and without anxiety or confusion.I wanted and yearned to follow the Master. I remember getting up off my knees and looking out the window and for the first time in my life I had tears running down my cheeks as I now knew that Jesus Christ knows me. I looked up to heaven and said, "I don't have a lot to offer, but I am Yours for the rest of my life." Life has never been easy, but regardless of the challenges I can always go back to that first time I felt His singular expression of love for me in Feb of 1978. I have had many more spiritual experiences since then that have galvanized my conviction, yet none have been as life changing as that quiet moment in the wee hours of the night.

How I live my faith

I am very involved with my faith and have served as a Sunday school teacher and leader to the youth. For 8 years I served as a bishop over the congregation and now have responsibilities to a larger geographical area. One of the areas of my responsibilities is to create service projects our church can do to help in our community through feeding the less fortunate and cleaning up our city and beaches.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Chuck Nielsen
Rest assured, not only "can" a husband and wife be together for forever but they "should" be together forever. How cruel would it be to love someone so much and have such a connection and dependency on their companionship and to have it all end upon death? That idea is not consistent with a loving God. In whom should we have faith?

Chuck Nielsen
Start always looking vertical to Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. People can be convincing yet not always right. Heavenly Father hears all prayers directed to Him through Jesus Christ. I promise you, He will answer your prayers and comfort you. Don't ever give up! He feels what you are feeling right now. Show more Show less
