Hi I'm Jacob

I'm a husband, a father of six and helicopter pilot in the US Army. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in California. I like to run, play guitar and spend time with my wife and six kids. I went on a 2 year mission to Peru in South America where I learned to love people of all walks of life and of different cultures and I thrilled in the opportunity to share my beliefs with others. Part way through college I switched to a helicopter school where I was able to start on the path of realizing my childhood dream of flying. I have since joined the Army and enjoy flying Army helicopters. In all I do I carry a common theme for my life and that is to live how my Father in heaven expects me to, to support my wife and children and make them happy that I am their husband and father.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all of my life. I have always believed the church to be true. As I studied the scriptures and the church teachings they have brought me a lot of hope and peace in my life. The teaching of Heavenly Father's plan to bring us back to Him and the teaching of families that continue after this life are some of the teachings that encourage me the most. When I was a teenager I decided that it was time that I prayed and received an answer of the truthfulness of the church for myself. I went into my room to be alone and I prayed with as much faith and sincerity as I could manage. I took my time waiting on my knees for an answer to come to me. I felt good but nothing particular, nothing that I thought I could hold onto as a basis for my testimony. I prayed for several nights that way, always feeling just a calm normal feeling and nothing more. One day when I was in class at church we were watching a video about the last week of Christ's life, his crucifixion and resurrection. While I was watching the video and thinking of Christ I began to think on the prayers that I had been making to God and suddenly I felt a very strong feeling that told my heart and my mind that I have always known the church is true. The Lord answered my prayer in his own time, after I had done my part. I know that Joseph Smith was called as a prophet in these latter days to restore Christ's church to the earth. I know that we have a modern prophet today that is like a watchman on a tower who can see the dangers that are far off and give us warning because he receives revelation from God. I know that the priesthood has been restored by laying on of hands by those that have authority from Christ. I testify of this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by living the commandments of God. I try to do the Lord's will where ever I am. I use the scriptures as a guide to keep my will in line with the Lord's by studying it at least a little every day. I pray regularly for guidance and to give thanks for the help I receive. I try to take advantage of every opportunity I can to help others because to me this is the main theme of Christ's ministry and teachings. I try not to say things that will hurt others but instead to say things that will lift people up. I am not perfect and I make mistakes despite my good efforts. I try not to criticize others for their flaws because I know I have my own. I serve in church callings to help support and lift the other members I meet with.
