Hi I'm Scott Matthew

About Me

Hi, I'm a father of 7, employed as an Aircraft Electrician for the USAF, and working on my Bachelors degree in Computer Science. In my spare time (ha ha), I enjoy camping, hiking, computers/technology, watching movies, long distance running, and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Although both of my parents were well into their adulthood when they joined the church, I was very young and so for many years I went just because they went. It wasn't until I began to become a young man that I realized I really needed to decide for myself what I was going to do with my life and weather or not I really believed all the teachings I had learned about my whole life. For me this was a process of intense research and sincere prayer. I can still remember so clearly the way I felt the time that I prayed asking if this really was the gospel of Jesus Christ and if this was His true church. I was filled with such a feeling of peace and a sense of clarity that I knew with out any doubt that this was where I needed to be. As I have continued to live the gospel throughout my life, the truthfulness of this decision has re revealed itself to me time and time again in innumerable ways.

How I live my faith

I currently serve in our community as the Cub Scout Committee Chairman, this is a behind the scenes type of position that lets me work with other Den Leaders and the Cub Master as we plan on ways to improve the young boys Scout experience. In my local church I also serve as a Sunday School Teacher with my wife. We teach 12 and 13 year olds.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Scott Matthew
To me this is where my primary responsibilities lie, followed closely by my children and church callings, then come my work duties and time with friends. But my wife is my greatest friend and companion. Knowing that I have been married to my wife not only "till death do you part" but for "time and all eternity" really makes a huge difference in how we treat each other and how we work through arguments. (yes we still have arguments from time to time... but knowing what this life is all about really helps us be as one more often than not). Show more Show less
