Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a teacher who enjoys laughing and dancing. I love my husband and my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always known that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. As a child, I felt the goodness and joy that came from living the gospel. As I have grown older and studied the doctrines and teachings of the church more deeply, I have come to know both in my mind and my heart that this is God's church on the earth. I know it was restored to the earth through a living prophet, Joseph Smith. As a historian, I have been repeatedly amazed in my studies of world and US history at how perfectly the hand of God guided and inspired so many people and nations to prepare the world for the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I feel so blessed to live in a time with the fullness of the gospel on the earth. I love the Book of Mormon and the Bible and have had numerous spiritual confirmations of their truthfulness as I have read, studied, and lived the teachings of their pages. One of my favorite scriptures in the Book of Mormon says, "For behold, I am God and I am a God of miracles and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith" 2 Nephi 27:23. I know that God is a God of miracles and that He has restored the true Church of Jesus Christ to the earth again. I know He continues to teach us and guide us here on the earth through prophets, just as He always has. I love the scriptures and am so grateful for the guidance I receive as I study God's word. I know that God loves us so much, and that He is just waiting for us to exercise faith in Him so that He can bless us with His miracles.

How I live my faith

I show my faith in Jesus Christ by living the gospel as He taught it. I also try to treat others as Christ would treat them. I've never regretted taking the time to be kind or serve someone else. In the church I have had many opportunities to serve, teach others, and strengthen my faith in Jesus Christ. I am most grateful for the opportunity I had to serve as a full time missionary for the church for a year and a half. I served my mission in Mesa Arizona and taught the gospel of Jesus Christ in Spanish. As a missionary I not only strengthened my personal faith in Jesus Christ and His restored gospel, but I was able to help many others come unto Christ as well. One of the greatest joys I've ever experienced in my life has come through helping others come unto Christ and be baptized into His church. I have seen miracles in my life as I have served others and taught them of Christ.

How can I find someone to talk with, in person, about the Mormon religion?

The best way to learn truth is to go to the source. To learn about the Mormon church, talk to a member of the church, visit with missionaries in your home, or chat with missionaries online at Mormon.org. You can also request a missionary visit or church materials on the Mormon.org website. We are all happy to share the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone, so don't be afraid to ask questions or ask someone to teach you more. Ultimately, God is the source of all truth. After learning about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from members of the church or missionaries, and taking the chance to read from the Book of Mormon, it is vital to pray about what you have learned. God is our loving Heavenly Father. He answers our prayers and will help all those who humbly and sincerely seek answers from Him. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are women of faith, hope, and charity. We come in all shapes and sizes, colors and ages. We work in homes, schools, hospitals, and business centers. What sets Mormon women apart from the rest of the world is our knowledge of our divine purpose in this life. We know we are daughters of a loving Heavenly Father and that affects how we act and what we do. We are all trying to live as women of God should. I love a quote from Margaret Nadauld, former General Young Women’s President for the church, in which she explains the need for women to be women of God. She said: Women of God can never be like women of the world. The world has enough women who are tough we need women who are tender. There are enough women who are coarse we need women who are kind. There are enough women who are rude we need women who are refined. We have enough women of fame and fortune we need more women of faith. We have enough greed we need more goodness. We have enough vanity we need more virtue. We have enough popularity we need more purity. Margaret D. Nadauld, “The Joy of Womanhood,” Liahona, Jan 2001, 17–19 Mormons do believe in equality between men and women. God loves us all and we are all his children. Even so, it is obvious that men and women are different. We have different roles in life as well as in the church. Men are ordained by God to provide, protect, and preside. Women are to nurture. In the church, this means that men are called to hold the Priesthood and lead the church under God’s direction. Women also serve in leadership, teaching, and supportive roles throughout the church. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are all working together, both men and women, to help teach and bring others unto Christ and His true church. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the power and authority of God. God gives this power to man to act in His name for the salvation of His children. The Bible teaches us in Heb. 5: 4 "And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron." The priesthood is only given by the laying on of hands, by one who is authorized; who already has the authority. God has always given this priesthood authority to His prophets. Priesthood authority is required in order to perform sacred acts such as baptism, giving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and blessing the sacrament. I am so grateful for the priesthood on the earth. I feel so happy that I was baptized into the true church of Jesus Christ by a worthy priesthood holder. I know that having the priesthood of God on earth is a great blessing. It makes it possible for us to fulfill all of God's commandments and and return to live with Him again some day. Show more Show less
