Hi I'm Brett

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Being married and having four wonderful children, there's little downtime. By day I'm a technology professional for a large insurance company. I enjoy running, reading, and traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, there came a time in my early teens when I needed find out for myself whether the church was true. Since then, conversion has been a process, not an event. Through many experiences, my faith continues to grow and develop. A testimony of the Book of Mormon in central to my conviction that I belong to the true church of Jesus Christ. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God because I have read it and have received powerful, spiritual feelings that confirm my belief. The Book of Mormon with the Bible provide a blueprint for how to achieve happiness in this life. I know that I am literally a spirit son of a Heavenly Father. That means that I have divine potential. However, I also realize that I cannot progress alone. I know that Christ lives, and that he is our Savior and Redeemer, and that by applying his atonement we can overcome the mistakes we make in this life that distance us from Him and Heavenly Father. God has not left us alone. I know that the heavens are open, and that revelation is real. Through Joseph Smith, Jesus Christ restored His church on the earth. Today, His church continues to be led by a living prophet, who receives revelation. Through the Holy Ghost, I'm able to receive personal revelation to help myself and my family with the challenges and trials of life. Through the gospel of Jesus Christ, we can learn His Plan of Happiness, which explains where we were before birth, why we are here on earth, and what happens after we die. Having answers to these questions brings me and my family immense peace in a world that is unstable, cynical, and hopeless.

How I live my faith

There's no aspect of my life that is not touched by my faith. To me, this is imperative. A "Sunday-only" religion is of no use to me or my family. My religion affects my personal life, family life, and professional life. It also guides my involvement in my community, my nation, and the world. I believe this life is a test an opportunity for me to demonstrate to my Heavenly Father that I will follow Him and His Son by faith. Part of this test is to see if I will follow the commandments even if no one else is looking. Life as a member if the Church of Jesus Christ is both challenging and rewarding at the same time. Everyone in the church actively participates in the Lord's work. My responsibilities include coordinating missionary work and providing fellowship to some families in our congregation.
