Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a physician, husband and father. I love to learn and to teach. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In my medical practice I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of skin disease. Although I spend most of my professional time at a microscope, I love attending at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, treating patients with limited financial means and advanced skin disease. I enjoy running, reading novels and history books, studying foreign languages, and learning about current world events. I enjoy playing and watching baseball, basketball, soccer, and other sports. I enjoy spending time with my two daughters and young son. My beautiful wife and I experienced the joy of adoption with our youngest child.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been a critical part of my life since childhood. Raised a member of the Church, I have always felt a sense of purpose in life beyond the mundane pursuit of temporal things. Through difficult times, such as illness of my spouse and extended schooling and medical training, the Church has helped provide support and understanding of what this life is all about.

How I live my faith

Faith is a principle that brings the power of God into our lives when we abide by eternal laws set forth by God in scripture. The promises that God has in store for those who live by faith are wonderful. I exercise my faith in God and Jesus Christ by studying his word in the Bible and Book of Mormon. I strive to follow the example of my Savior by bringing kindness and patience to my interactions with those closest to me and with patients I treat in clinic. I think of the Lord's example of loving all men when I enter an examination room to meet with those who have clearly had struggles in life. My faith strengthens me in moments when I feel physically, emotionally or spiritually weak. My faith leads me to hope in a better world that God has prepared for me through the sacrifice of his Son. My faith helps me to desire repentance, reformation and renewal in my life and motivates me to be a better man.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is an abridgement of records kept on the American continent over the course of many hundreds of years. Compiled by the ancient prophet-historian-general Mormon, the record unfolds the history of two civilizations that flourished and eventually collapsed. Various prophets of these two civilizations recorded historical information and spiritual teachings that were edited and compiled and engraved by Mormon onto plates of gold. Joseph Smith was directed to these plates by revelation and translated the plates by inspiration from God. Many hands have had a part in bringing us the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
