Hi I'm Charles Henry

About Me

Most importantly I am a husband of a wonderful woman, and a father of four children, and now a grandfather. I love to participate in sports such as basketball, golf, but especially running. Running has been a part of my life for many years and really became important at a point in my life when I decided to reverse some of the negative behaviors that had begun to have an impact on my health and relationships.

Why I am a Mormon

I can honestly say that one of the last things that I thought would have happened to me five months before I was baptized is that I would join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My first visit was simply a favor to a young man I had met. He asked me if I would come and hear him speak at Church. I can even remember telling my family that I would go and listen but "I would never join his church". While the attraction was not not instantaneous there was a pull that had me coming back a few more times. I was attracted by people who did not judge, by the youth of the church who seemed very different from other young people I knew, and curious about the gospel that was slightly different than what I had grown up learning. What was really impressive was getting to know people who truly lived the life that the scriptures describe. One of faith, love, and charity. Before I knew it I was being attracted by something that I had never known (or at least could never have identified) in my life prior, the Holy Spirit. That may seem rather corny to some as it would have been to me before the experience but it is the truth. Today my life feels so much more complete than it ever has. I love those around me more than I ever could have before. I have a true love for life. I know that God lives, I know that Jesus Christ is his only begotten son and he died for us, all of us. I know this Church is theirs and has been restored to the earth for our benefit. We have living prophets today who provide guidance for our lives. If we would accept its teachings, we, and our families, can all live together forever with our heavenly father and our Savior. i pray if you are reading my testimony it will in some small way help in your decision to at least visit the Church and that you will have the same experience that I am having. I humbly pray for this in his holy name, even Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My ward has been an important part of my life since I joined the Church in 2004. My first ward family was one of the significant original attractions to the church. Their immediate acceptance made a serious impact. I love to participate in ward events, and serve in whatever I capacity I can. The secret that I discovered when I first encountered the church is that I get much more out of service than I can possibly contribute. trying to be an example by living the standards that I have learned is of primary importance. Since i am human I make mistakes and my thoughts and actions aren't always perfect but I know that through the grace of the lord I can be forgiven if I sincerely repent.
