Hi I'm Tyler

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like sports. I play as much as I can. Lately I have been playing a lot of basketball and ultimate frisbee, but I wish I could go golfing more. I am currently working in the financial sector assisting people with their personal investments. I'm a pretty laid-back, easy-going kind of person. But I do enjoy watching debates on religion and politics. I speak Japanese and frequently watch funny Japanese TV programs (Owarai).

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I choose to be Mormon is because it makes sense and it brings me peace of mind. I have seen and heard many doctrines and beliefs, but this church fits me best. I have the freedom to explore other ways of thinking, but most of the time my findings lead me to believe more in Mormonism. I mean I feel that if something is true then God verifies truth. I have felt God verify truth to me many instances in my life.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday I go to church. The meetings are set up where we have an instructor or a speaker teach us from the scriptures. We can participate and often have discussions about gospel topics and religion in life. I'm in charge of making sure we have an instructor each week who teaches a lesson. The instructor can be anyone who attends the congregation. During the weekday, we usually have some sort of activity that we do as a congregation. Also, there is an institute near my university where we can schedule to take religion classes around our class schedule. The institute offers various classes ranging from everything from Old Testament classes to modern Mormon studies.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No. I know people in the church on the far left and people on the far right. The only thing I have ever heard over a pulpit is to vote for the best candidates available. Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Beats me. I have been to other churches including Buddhist ceremonies. I don't see the discrepancy that supposedly makes the Mormon Church a cult. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the way to overcome two obstacles we can't overcome ourselves. One is physical death. The other is spiritual death which means that when we sin we distance ourselves from God. Through the Atonement we will all live again and can have our mistakes washed away by Jesus Christ during this life. Show more Show less
