Hi I'm Michele

About Me

My name is Michele and I'm the mother of four grown children. I lived most of my adult life in the deep south, but now I live in the southwestern United States. I'm pretty much retired, and spend my days working with my dogs, taking photographs, reading and gardening.

Why I am a Mormon

My son had a good friend who was a Mormon, and I always thought highly of him. Over time (and by chance) I met other Mormons, each of whom I found to be a really great person. When the missionaries came to my door, I let them in because they reminded me of my son's friend. I enjoyed our discussions, and reflected on the quality of the people I had me who were members of the church. Think of judging a tree by the quality of it's fruit. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. I came to realize that I wanted to be one of these people and be a part of the church!

How I live my faith

Of course, I attend church - but I also belong to the women's group. A companion and I visit other women who live nearby, checking to see if there is any help they need making sure everything is OK with them. I also belong to a group of women who help think of programs the women might enjoy when we meet. I have participated in church services, including standing up and giving my personal testimony (quite a thing for a shy person!).

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes, I do! Why would a loving God stop speaking to His people thousands of years ago? Would you stop speaking to your children? To me it makes absolute sense that God would continue to speak to his children through prophets - even now. Show more Show less
