Hi I'm Stacy

I'm a business owner and work-at-home mom. I crave color and chocolate, I love being "online" and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, a mother of five and a life enthusiast. I am the founder of a website that connects people worldwide through their love of creative expression and storytelling. I love trees and mountains and I collect sprinkles, which I believe should be used liberally on just about anything!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was born to faithful parents who taught me about the life and teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ. I was taught early to love, honor and abide by patterns of righteous living that began generations ago when my ancestors embraced the gospel of Jesus Christ and made great sacrifices to live it. I am a Mormon because I have felt the Spirit or the Holy Ghost testify to my heart numerous times that God lives, that He sent his son Jesus Christ to redeem us and that both God the father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and through him restored all the doctrines and ordinances we need to be happy now and be with our families in eternity. I am a Mormon because living the gospel makes me happy and helps me navigate my daily life in a time of great uncertainty and shifting values.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by example and through teaching. I'm not perfect, but I try my best everyday to make good decisions. I believe I am accountable to my Heavenly Father for the time, energy and talents He has granted me. I strive to teach my children and others that the way to find daily happiness and lasting joy is by following our Savior Jesus Christ. When we are filled with gratitude and awareness and work to develop personal integrity, then keeping God's commandments is easy. I currently serve as Sunday School teacher to youth who are 12 and 13. I LOVE this calling. It isn't always easy to keep my students' attention--but I thrill to see their eyes when something clicks and when they feel the Spirit testifying to their hearts. We are studying what we call The Plan of Salvation or the answers to the questions, Where did I come from? Why am I here? and What happens after this life? It is truly amazing to discuss with kids (on the brink of independence) the 'big picture' of their life and their eternal potential.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a book of ancient scripture, similar to The Bible in that is testifies of Jesus Christ and contains the fullness of His gospel or teachings. When Christ lived and taught in Jerusalem, he spoke of having "other sheep ... which are not of this fold them also must I bring, and they shall hear my voice and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." Christ was speaking of the people who populated what is now the American continent. The Book of Mormon is the record of these people, who prophesied of His birth and witnessed His visit to them, following His resurrection. Someone professing a love of Christ and desire to follow Him should in my mind be eager to read another testament to His life, teachings and divinity. I read from The Book of Mormon nearly every day and it has done nothing but strengthen my conviction that God lives and that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. When I read The Book of Mormon I invite the Spirit, or the influence of the Holy Ghost into my mind and my day. It is this Spirit that teaches me how to be a better wife and mother and helps me make confident decisions at work and at home -- in other words, when I read the scriptures, I feel peace and direction in my everyday life.  Show more Show less

What is faith?

To me, faith is a belief that spurs action. For example I believe that exercise can make a difference in health and vitality. A lot of people believe that. I have tested this belief for years and I now have faith in daily exercise. I know from experience that when I sacrifice sleep and get up to work out I feel energized and ready for the day. Faith in the spiritual realm is applied in a similar manner. When you read or hear something about God or Jesus Christ or their teachings you can put it to the test by praying to know whether it's true and by living what you learn. There is a scripture in John that reads, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." There is another scripture, also in John, "If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." I believe one of the primary reasons we are on earth is to develop faith in God and Jesus Christ, so that we prove to ourselves that They live and guide those who choose to love and honor Them. This life is the time for us to prepare to meet God, our Heavenly Father -- when we exercise faith in him, we are preparing ourselves to live in His presence again.   Show more Show less
