Hi I'm Joe K.

I am a Sailor in the U.S. Navy. I'm married with 4 kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the great state of Georgia, and I am a hopeless UGA Bulldogs fan. College football is my second great passion in life, the first being my wife and kids.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in Georgia we were Protestant, mostly Methodist with the occasional visit to the Baptist church. Then my parents were introduced to the "Mormons". They joined the church and took us along. My parent were never dedicated to the idea of steady church attendance, and that mentality followed on with me. I quit going to church. It wasn't until my 20th birthday that I made the decision that I should go back to church. I visited the local churches and it was okay. But then I decided to make the 80 mile trip to go to the "Mormon" church. The feelings that overwhelmed me just from seeing the building and pulling into the parking lot were indescribable. The best that I can do to put it into words would be to say that it felt like going home. I have since had numerous occasions where the Spirit has testified to me of the truthfulness of the restored gospel, but none will ever surpass that first visit.

How I live my faith

I am an avid Scouter. For the last 18 years I have worked with the Boy Scouts of America developing young men into future leaders. I have also served the youth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by serving as the Young Men President and as a Counselor in the Bishopric overseeing youth programs.
