Hi I'm Matthew

I'm Graphic Artist, Web Tech, Husband and Father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 2 sons. My wife and I met at a single's church picnic. I have collected comic books since the age of 10, but have been buying them digitally for several years. My eyes have trouble with the printed comics. I should probably have them checked. I have illustrated a few children's books, taught a children's book class for 10 years, designed floral packaging, drawn caricatures at parties and for gifts. I have sold ice cream and donuts. I still eat ice cream and donuts. My idea of a fun vacation is spending time with my family. It doesn't have to be far away or full of expense. I listen to juvenile fiction books as I commute to and from work. Superhero movies are some of my favorites, but above all, I enjoy movies that are imaginative and provide a feeling of hope and optimism. My faith is who I am. It isn't something I wear like a piece of clothing that can be hung up until convenient to wear. It also is not something that I try to force on my friends and coworkers. I am open about my faith and how I live it, but respect others and their beliefs, choices, and views.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be. Why do I choose to be Mormon? At first is was that I was raised that way. My Mother and older siblings joined when I was around the age of 5. My Father was never baptized but was always supportive of our involvement with the Church. Throughout life, there are moments of decision. For me, those moments have always included and returned me to my faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ as it is found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The beliefs and experiences that I have developed over a lifetime in the Church would be nothing without the feeling of inner peace that comes as I learn, teach, serve, and grow. I can say that I know God lives. Jesus Christ is his only begotten son in the flesh and our Savior. The Holy Ghost (Spirit) is an essential member of the Godhead. He testifies to our soul the truthfulness of Ancient and modern scripture. He also testifies of truth wherever it is found. His influence is the inner peace to which I referred earlier. I am a Mormon because I have felt and continue to feel the peaceful whisperings of the Holy Spirit as he teaches me that this is the Church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Over the years the basics of living my faith have remained the same. Those basics include Church meeting on Sunday, daily prayer, trying to read the scriptures regularly, trying to pay a full tithe (10% of my income), observing the Word of Wisdom as I understand it, and being kind and helpful to those around me. In addition to the basics, I have had church responsibilities (callings). I have taught primary children, served 2 years as a missionary, taught various adult Sunday lessons, and held various positions of leadership. I was also a financial clerk.
