Hi I'm Andy.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Andy and I am a Theatre Arts Studies Major with an emphasis in Theatre Education. I am the second oldest of 5 children. I grew up in a very small town in Arizona and graduated the 4th in my class of 36. I'm just your average LDS college student, striving to keep the commandments and follow God's plan for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Mormon faith because I know it is the true church of Jesus Christ. Nothing has brought me greater peace, joy and happiness than by living the teachings of my God and His Son found in their entirety in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a Mormon because I cannot deny the testimony of Jesus Christ and His church. This testimony, or conviction, came from following His commandments, studying the scriptures, regularly attending my church meetings, paying my tithing, and trying to be like my Savior. I know what it is like to feel distant from God. I know the pain and sorrow that comes from personal sin and mistakes. I know how empty life seems when you are not doing what is right. The gospel of Jesus Christ can help. By accepting Him as your Savior and entering into the waters of baptism and by being confirmed a member of His church by the proper authority, an unmeasurable amount of His Holy Spirit will enter into your life. You will see the world through new eyes, the eyes of a child of God. Your life will change. You will feel connected to others. You will desire to do what is right. You will encourage others to follow the teachings of Jesus. You will want to obey His commandments because you love Him, and not because you have to. I know that the Mormon faith, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is indeed God's church. It is the church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Growing up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints taught me many valuable life lessons that created a pattern of goodness, joy, and happiness in my life. Each day, I remember that I am a son of my Heavenly Father who loves me and cares for me. His Son, Jesus Christ paid the price for my sins, and because of his Atonement, I can be forgiven. One day, by doing what is right, I know that I can return and live with them again. I have daily scripture study that consists mainly of the docrtine contained in The Book of Mormon, The Holy Bible, Doctrine & Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. Reading and studying the lessons of hope, charity and faith contained in these works of God are an inspiration that keep my feet planted in the Gopsel of Jesus Christ. Every Sunday, I attend my local Church meetings and partake of the sacrament. The sacrament is a reminder of the endless sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The bread reminds me of His flesh and the water reminds me of the blood that He shed for me. I sometimes see the sacrament as a way to "re-charge" my spiritual batteries. During the week, the world takes a toll on me. When Sunday comes around, it is a great relief to renew my desire to follow Jesus Christ and His gospel by partaking of His sacrament.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. Mormons worship Jesus Christ and revere Him as the Son of God, the Savior of the World. Only in and through the grace and Atonement Jesus Christ can we be saved, after all we have done. Joseph Smith was a man of faith, courage and determination. His faith led him, as a young boy of 14 years old, to question religion and seek out the truth. In a secluded forest near his home, his courage allowed him to ask God the Eternal Father, what religion was correct. Joseph Smith received an answer by a visitation from God and Jesus Christ. They informed him that none of the religions were correct. The churches of his time did have truth contained in their teachings, but the complete truthfulness of Jesus' gospel was not found on the earth. Through Joseph Smiths determination, the true gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth. That gospel can be found in the Mormon faith where members worship Jesus Christ and acknowledge His divinity as the Son of God. Show more Show less
