Hi I'm Paul

I'm a lifelong learner, a software engineer, speak portuguese, play guitar, study martial arts and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a husband, father and professional computer programmer. I am grateful for my wonderful wife and our two awesome children. We have a lot of fun together and love to laugh, sing and watch whole TV series together on Netflix (over time). It took me a while to decide to work as a computer programmer. I like it, but I'm still not sure that's what I want to do when I grow up. :-) I think I had about 5 or 6 majors in college (BYU). So many things interest me it was hard to choose. I loved going to school at BYU. I loved the feel of the place. I loved the people too. I loved it so much that I now work at BYU. It's great! BYU gives you tuition for free as a benefit of employment and I was like a kid in a candy store when I first looked at the course catalog and realized I could take any of those classes! Ever since I became an adult, for some reason, I have always loved to learn. I've have lived in Salt Lake City Utah, Las Vegas Nevada, Bowie Maryland, Provo Utah, Brazil (Pernambuco, Sergipe, Alagoas) and Glendale Arizona. As a child I moved around mostly because my good father liked to move every 6 years or so. I went to high school in Maryland. I have performed in plays and musicals and love to sing. I took up the guitar in college to woo my beautiful and talented wife and it worked! I serenaded her every day until I convinced her I was not a dork ;-). Recently my two children and I have taken up Taekwondo and are enjoying it. My wife is a novelist.

Why I am a Mormon

Knowing the purpose of life and that God is pleased with how I am living it makes me happy and confident. I know we are here on the Earth for a reason and our end will be much better than our beginning if we follow Jesus Christ. I feel that God loves us, is the father of our spirits and wants me and all of us to return to him someday after this life and be happy.

How I live my faith

I pray everyday and that helps me to know that there are things that I cannot see, feel or touch but are nonetheless there and important. I read the scriptures everyday too. I serve my church community currently by managing the classes that are taught on Sundays. I help the teachers with teaching training and recommend new teachers. The 7 classes that I work with are for ages 12 through adults. In the past I have served my community in many roles including music and missionary work (in Brazil and here in the US). The Brazilian people by the way are wonderful. They are so kind and open.
