Hi I'm Maren

I live in Vermont and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a photographer, mother of 4, and family history enthusiast. I like working in the yard and I love watching things grow, especially my berry bushes, flowers and my kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I gained a strong belief in the scriptures by reading them and putting the ideas I found there to the test of real life. I also prayed about what I read and received a strong spiritual feeling that the scriptures (Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, Doctrines and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price) are the word of God. I also believe that our living prophet and apostles are honest servants of God and speak about the things that lead us back to our Heavenly Father. As I try to live the gospel and keep His Spirit with me, my life experiences add to my faith by confirming truth. All those experiences add up to a strong conviction... and a life of joy.

How I live my faith

I try really hard not to hurt anyone, ever. (Which isn't always as simple or easy as it sounds.) Beyond that, I'd like to make other people feel really good inside, and there are lots of ways to do that. Since my faith is in Jesus Christ, I live my faith by trying to do things the way He did. I'm excited to work with members of my congregation as we try to help each other grow spiritually and live more like Jesus Christ. My children learn the importance of their own spirituality through family and personal prayer and by reading God's word together.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

We're here on this earth to choose the good. We are free to choose whatever we want, of course, but choosing the good means following the example of Jesus Christ, who was perfect. We choose good when we help other people: children, friends, strangers, our spouse.... We choose good when we live by God's laws. Good things make us happy, they make others around us happy, and they are pleasing to God. Choosing to follow Christ will lead us back to our Heavenly Father, and He loves us so much that he let us come here to learn how to choose the good. Show more Show less
