Hi I'm Cameron

The gospel of Jesus Christ helps me be happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I raised my daughters as a single mother after my husband died. I missed him every day! Facing such a trial was made bearable because of my foundation in the gospel. I had many wonderful friends and family around me to assist and support. Then a miracle happened. After 13 years of being alone, I met a wonderful man. The Lord clearly guided him to me and we courted for several months before marrying. I am happier than words can tell! I love to ride bikes, hike, and canoe with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I continue to see how keeping the commandments of God brings me lasting happiness. When I listen to the leaders of the church or when I read the scriptures, and then apply it in my life, I see that God is willing to bless us for our efforts. For instance, when I was a young mother, my husband and I trusted the Lord's word that we should make every effort to have the mother stay at home with the children, if at all possible. We had a newborn child. I was the one with the college degree and my husband was working on his degree and had a job, but was not yet making enough to pay for all of our expenses. After much prayer and searching, we were able to secure good employment that I could do from home. We definitely felt that the Lord had blessed us! The Lord blesses us when we keep his commandments. This is the promise of the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love having various leadership and teaching opportunities in the church. Occasionally I have the chance to teach lessons about how living the gospel can make us happy. I love teaching and learn so much! I love it when others share their testimonies and we are all enlightened. It is so cool to see that the gospel makes them happy too. We are made stronger to meet the challenges of the coming week. I live my faith by thinking, speaking, and living it every day of the week. I don't think of religion as a Sunday-only event. Clearly the Savior taught us that we should embrace his teaching every day...every minute! There is so much good in the world! When I make the effort to surround myself with positive and uplifting images, music, books, and people, I am much happier. Service to others is also a key to a happy life for me! Service is can be as simple as being a good listener or being a friend to the friendless.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

My husband died of cancer 10 years ago. We all miss him a great deal, but knowing that we can be together in heaven has been of great comfort to us. Before he died he told us that he was not scared. He did not want to leave us, but we all knew we would all be together again because of our marriage in the temple. Every day when I think of him, I remember this great truth and I have no doubt that if we keep the commandments, we will be together again. We are happy now and we will be happy then.
