Hi I'm Scott

I am a Phoenix native. I am a father of five. I have been married 31 years. I love to watch sunsets. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Arizona nearly all my life. I love the smell of the creosote bushes in the morning, the long shadows on the mountains and the beauty of the colorful sunsets. I enjoy being with my sweetheart, our children and growing count of grandchildren. I tinker in my profession and at home from building homes to buying property to studying market trends or trimming bushes to organizing the garage again or making pizza. I enjoy what I do because I enjoy people. I love to watch my wife, children, grandchildren, friends and others. In each person I enjoy the beautiful differences that the makes-up the collage of life. Just like the Arizona sunsets, not one is the same.

Why I am a Mormon

I have experienced confidence and peace during my life experiences based on my faith in the Jesus Christ. Because of my knowledge of God's plan of happiness, I have felt His loving companionship aside the sorrow of witnessing loved ones pass on from this life. I have witnessed how the gospel of Jesus Christ and the counsel of living prophets makes good things better. These simple reasons are based on the feelings of my heart. Feelings which are difficult to explain, but are real and true. I know Jesus is the Christ, my Savior, my Advocate, and my Redeemer. I know He speaks to prophets today. I have read their words, followed their counsel and witnessed His blessings of peace and joy in my life.

How I live my faith

I love watching and working with people. I believe that within each person is a desire to do what is right and good. We may not agree, but my faith has taught me to be patient and kind. I have served on educational, civic, and statewide volunteer organizations which have comprised various personalities and agendas. My success within these organizations has been based on my faith that all are children of God. I have sat in small, informal business settings and been asked about my faith due to my actions. Similarly, I have been involved in very large, formal gatherings of thousands and my faith has given me peace to answer difficult questions and solve pressing problems. I spend a significant amount of my time with one person at a time. Everyone has a story, a concern, a desire to reach higher, and a desire to be loved. My faith in God and His restoration of the gospel has permitted me to see the potential of such individuals and patiently support them in their good desires.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Scott
The Book of Mormon is another witness of Jesus Christ. It contains the writings of ancient prophets who lived on the American continent. Like the prophets of the Old and New Testament, these prophets know about Heavenly Fathers' plan and testify of the Savior's Atonement and His love. It supports and verifies the Bible and the teaching of Jesus Christ. If one will read it and sincerely pray about its teachings, you will know by the Holy Ghost it is true. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Scott
A testimony is a spiritual witness given to an individual by the Holy Ghost. It more of a feeling of what is right than a knowledge. It is pure and cannot be denied. It is to know Heavenly Father lives and loves us; that Jesus Christ lives and carried out the infinite Atonement; that Joseph Smith is a prophet and through him the fulness of the gospel was restored to the earth today with living prophets and apostles.
