Hi I'm William Roy

I'm a Mormon. My friends call me "Mr. Bill". I was born and raised in Michigan.

About Me

I was born and raised in Michigan the oldest of four children. In 1966 my parents began looking for a church in which to raise their children. Both of my parents were brought up in different faiths but became disatisfied with some of the other denominations after the death of my younger brother. My father was introduced to the Latter-Day Saint church through a co-worker and He and my mother began to take the missionary discussions. My mother and I joined in the late summer of 1966, my father about 6 - 8 months later. I am married and have one son. I enjoy camping, old movies, music (especially rock and roll, jazz and the blues), travel and spending time with family and my neices and nephews.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was raised in a Latter-Day Saint (Mormon) home when I turned 18 I began to question religion and the faith I was broguth up in. Through the study of other religions and my search for truth and faith I did not find anything close to what I thought I was searching for. I thoughtfully and prayerfully began to consider whether or not the faith I was raised in was true. I pondered on these questions: "Was the Book of Mormon true? Was Joseph Smith really a prophet and did he really see and talk with God?" Through fasting and prayer and a 3 day marathon of reading the Book of Mormon I gained a firm testimony of the truthfullness that I had been taught most of my life. From that time forward "I knew that this was the true church. That Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon was true." A witness came to me that has stayed with me all of my life. Though I continue to struggle with the day to day things of life. "I know that God lives. That Jesus is the Christ, that He lives. That Joseph Smith was a prophet. The Book of mormon is true." These things I know. Though life can get us down as we struggle here in mortality, my testimony remains a constant. "I KNOW!"

How I live my faith

I have had many callings and opportunities to serve in this church over the years. I have been a teacher of young children, youth Sunday School teacher, an Assistant Clerk, a leader in our Adult Priesthood, 1st Counselor in the Branch Presidency and I am curently working with the youth as a daily Seminary instructor. In all of these opportunities I have tried to instill the things I have learned about life and the gospel to help strengthen others and build up the testimonies of those around me. I try to serve others just as the Savior Jesus Christ did. We are placed here to serve others and to help build up and strengthen others, and that is how I try to live my life. I am not perfect. I have made many mistakes in my life, but it is through those difficulties that I have learned and grown the most. So now, I try to help others in their struggles with life by passing on some of the things I have learned on this journey we call "life."
