Hi I'm Luella

About Me

I am a wife, and a mother to 2 boys, a music teacher, . I love to read, ride horses, cross-stitch, and spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family of 13 children. My parents were very active in church with their assignments and the various church activities. During my college years, I questioned my beliefs, and began going to church only when I had nothing else to do on Sundays. I was driving on a long trip by myself one day, and thought to myself, "I wish Jesus could give me answers." I heard a voice as if someone was in the car with me answering "But I've been here all along." I began to cry, and it was at that moment that I decided that I had to return to full activity at church. I began praying regularly, reading my scriptures regularly, and going to church every Sunday. I felt my life turning around. I had been having a lot of arguments with my husband, who was not Mormon, and on days that I did the things Jesus would have me do, we didn't argue, and had wonderful days. Since then, I do all I can to stay as close to Jesus Christ as I can, and keep the Spirit in our home and in my heart. I can feel the blessings pouring out on our family every day.

How I live my faith

I attend church each Sunday and work with our Cub Scout pack as a Bear Den Leader. I help the boys achieve their religious requirements as well as their rank advancements. In addition, I work with the women in our church as an education advisor and help them learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

In Malachi chapter 3 we are told to "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts." There are numerous references in the scriptures that describe tithing to be a tenth of our income. When I first made the decision to pay tithing, I looked at our income and our bills, and I knew that it would be a huge leap of faith on my part to pay tithing, because it didn't look like we could afford our bills if I did. Well, I paid my tithing, and have been paying it ever since. I pay tithing before any other bill, and somehow we have had enough money to pay all of our bills, too! I know that my family has received many blessings because I pay my tithing. Show more Show less
