Hi I'm Evelyn Ruth

I grew up in Ohio. I'm a mom, a special education teacher, and I'm a Mormon. My husband and I live in southern Utah.

About Me

I work as a resource teacher in our local school district. I am married in the temple to a wonderful man, and I have one son. I spend my free time doing family history, gardening, hiking, studying, and being with my family. I have a BA and an MA in American history, and a Masters in Library Science plus various teaching endorsements. Our family enjoys using computers, cooking, gardening, listening to audio books, doing family projects, and traveling together.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it's true! I receive blessings of spiritual guidance and protection every day, and my soul is being transformed through living the gospel. The effort I make to live the gospel is more than compensated by the blessings the Lord delivers. I know Heavenly Father loves all of his children, and he sent our Savior, Jesus Christ, to provide a way for us to return to our Father's presence. This church is true, and I know that by the power of the Holy Ghost. Anybody can receive the same witness. Isn't that incredible?

How I live my faith

I serve our local congregation by working in our building library, visiting a few families each month, and assisting elderly sisters as needed. Typically, my husband and I attend the temple one time per week, and we attend church each Sunday. We try to find our ancestors, to learn about their lives, and to make sure they have the opportunity to receive baptism and other ordinances by proxy in the temple. My husband and I read scripture and pray together every day. I also pray and read scripture on my own. My efforts to live the gospel have transformed me; I cannot even express the magnitude of the blessings I have received, and I trust the Lord has more blessings to give me.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Evelyn Ruth
Mormon temples are dedicated to the Lord for the most sacred gospel ordinances. Worthy church members learn about the purpose of life and receive the blessing of eternal marriage. We can also provide these blessings by proxy for our deceased ancestors. This service provides all of God's children the opportunity to receive or to reject His blessings. The priesthood ordinances turn temples into places of revelation and instruction. The content and revelation received during temple instruction is sacred, personal, and profoundly relevant.
