Hi I'm Scott

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love learning. I am an appreciator of excellence in whatever field of endeavor it can be found. I work for a large bank as a financial analyst. I love hiking and enjoying nature outdoors. I got married later in life than I expected too and it was worth the wait. I have the an incredible wife who I love deeply.

Why I am a Mormon

I am the son of two Mormon converts. Some people think I am Mormon because my parents are Mormon and I grew up that way. That was true until I was 17 years old. Since then and especially now, years later, I am Mormon because I believe that the Book of Mormon is a true account. I believe Joseph Smith was a true servant of God. My belief in these things comes from my own serious study and experiences, independent of any other person. I am Mormon because I am open minded. What I mean by open minded is summed up well in the following statement: "We [Mormons] believe in all truth, no matter to what subject it may refer. No sect or religious denomination [or, I would add, no searcher of truth] in the world possesses a single principle of truth that we do not accept or that we will reject. We are willing to receive all truth, from whatever source it may come; for truth will stand, truth will endure." (Joseph F. Smith in Gospel Doctrine, p. 1)

How I live my faith

How I strive to live my faith can be summed up in one sentence: "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them." (Matthew 7:12) To me, this statement captures what it means to be a Mormon. Along with this statement, I am motivated by my belief that: "Happiness is the object and design of our existence; and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keeping all the commandments of God." (Joseph Smith in History of the Church, 5:134–35) Because I believe that this statement is true and that it captures the true purpose of life, I strive to make choices that lead to happiness.
