Hi I'm J. Rib

I am from California. Running is legit, ASL has changed my life and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from California . I could do the same thing every single day and be totally happy, as long as it involved going running and playing basketball. I played a year in college, followed by a knee surgery that totally changed my life. I am a history major, I want to be a high school teacher, I love frozen burritos. I served a mission for the Church, I somehow ended up speaking three languages,Music has to be on all the time, I love people and life is so good.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because when my friend got baptized, as i sat in the service I knew, without a doubt, that the Church was true. I had been to many church events, I had read the BOM twice, but in that moment, i knew it was true, and I would do whatever it took to get baptized. I knew it was worth it. So thats how it started, now 5 years out I can I stay Mormon because I know its the Church of Jesus Christ, because the Gospel gives me happiness and direction and plays a huge role in the life I have today. And today, I have a dang good life.

How I live my faith

Living in the Church is such an incredible blessing. Participating in a church ward, or congregation gives incredible opportunities to serve and be uplifted. The ward is like one giant family. The saying "it takes a village" fits great into the church. My family are not members of the church, and truley my ward has become my family in Christ.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

J. Rib
in matt 9:12 it states "But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick". Christ did not come to earth to visit and teach a perfect people, because a perfect person does not exist besides Christ himself. His perfect example shows to us perfect love. A great examples of this perfect love is in the story of the adulterous women in the new testament, Christ does not judge her, but only shows her love and through his love helps lead her unto repentance, through a change that will help her come unto him. The churches attitude on homosexuality is that it is a sin. Every person on this earth has temptations, tendencies to sin, trials to overcome. Homosexuality is against the will of the Lord. Adam and Eve, were man and women, created to multiply and replenish the earth. We continue in this today. We are created, as men or women to have specific roles. responsibilities and rites on this earth. We are sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly father. One of these roles is to marry, under the divine role we hold. To be married to the opposite sex, to uphold the divine role we have been given(see proclamation to the family). In the church missionary manual "Preach My Gospel" it states "Because families are ordained of God, they are the most important social unit in time and in eternity". A family is lead my a husband and wife, a gospel truth is that God is the same "yesterday, today, and forever". God does not change, doctrine does not change, moral values CANNOT change, the family cannot change. This is why this is such an important issue in the church, because its such an important issue to God. This being said it is so important to remember the example of Christ, he loves everyone. it is not our job to judge, make critical remarks or impose on others. We are all given our agency, ability to choose. As stated in Alma 42:27 "whosoever will come, may come". We can only be Christlike friends and families members, live the gospel ourselves and invite all into the fold, because we are all imperfect, we all sin, thats why we have the atonement. Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

J. Rib
In Romans 12 it says we are all members of one body. Each member of the Church is part of this "Body", a body needs all parts to funcion, as well as the Church. Each member has a specific, important role that they must fufill in order for the Ward, Stake or church has a whole to function. The church does not have paid clergy, because these callins or responsibilities(ex sunday school teacher, youth leader, bishop) are callings from the lord, they need to be done for the church to function, its an opportunity and blessing to serve, to build up Zion, here on the Earth!
