Hi I'm Eric

I love people, and I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

About Me

If California were a presidential candidate, I'd vote for it. I've left it a few times for different reasons, but I always come back. I love it here! The beautiful weather, the diverse group of people, and lots of sunshine are just a few of the things I enjoy here—not to mention my family. I hold a BA in Communications: Digital Media, and a Masters in Public Administration. I finished grad school during the recession and consequently had a challenging time obtaining work. During the years post grad school, I had a variety of jobs including a: laborer setting up a pumpkin patch, cook at a fast food restaurant, liability claims adjuster, wedding photographer, administrative assistant in a health facility, and a scab for a day at a grocery store. It was an interesting time in my life, but it all worked out okay because I got my dream job in the end. I now work as a media production manager for a non-profit legal organization where I get to be creative, and analytical. Because it's a small shop, I'm able to wear a variety of hats. I wouldn't wish my jobless time on anyone—and I've gained compassion for those people without work—but I think I learned from it, and in the end I was blessed. Life is funny. There are great moments, but there are also some extremely challenging times. I try to remember this when I encounter a difficult day—and believe me, I do: there's always tomorrow.

Why I am a Mormon

There is a lot of good in the world. There is also, unfortunately, a lot of moral confusion. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, so much of that confusion is cleared up. We have a prophet—a man, called of God as in ancient times—to lead His church. We receive instruction from him and other leaders of the church frequently. In addition to our own personal feelings we receive from God at times, through the Prophet we can know what God wants us to know as a community of God's children. In addition to enjoying the wonderful things the Gospel provides, I am a member of this church because I have lived the principles, followed the council of the Prophets, and have seen the joy and comfort in my life. There are many good people out there, many who have a belief in God and try to be good people. This is wonderful. To you, I want you to know that there is more: more knowledge, more blessings, more guidance, and more comfort in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

Going to church for me is part worship, and part fellowship. We pray, we are instructed, and we learn. But we do this together—with friends, family, and people who we do not know. There's something so nice about knowing that I'm with others each Sunday who are also trying to actively follow Christ. It's an opportunity to both see examples, and be an example.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Mormons help all people. We believe that all humans are sons and daughters of God. This makes us family, and just like in many families, we want to help each other. Additionally, as followers of Christ (Christians) we strive to be like Him; and he helped all people. Show more Show less
