Hi I'm Cris

I am a husband, a father, a social worker, a soccer coach and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my wife for nearly 15 years. My wife and I have four wonderful children. I am also a licensed social worker that has a passion for building and strengthening families. I also spend time volunteering in administrative functions at church. And in the community, I have participated in several volunteer opportunities including as a soccer coach for youth soccer.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a youth, I had occasion to interact with many people from the Church. They impressed me, especially the other youth. I had good feelings when I attended and was around them. Eventually, I learned more about why they did what they did and wanted what they had. After further study and prayer, I decided to join the church while in college.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each day. My goal is to try to do what my Heavenly Father wants me to do each day. Obedience to the commandments shows my faith in Christ. Some days I do better at this than others. When I fall short, I work to repent, so that I can be better through His atoning sacrifice. I study the scriptures and pray each day. I spend time with my family and teach my children. I provide service within the church in administrative functions. I also look for opportunities to serve in my community, including coaching soccer.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Many of the things that I see in the world testify to the existence of God. The beautiful sunsets, the way nature interacts, the abilities and complexities of the human body and the feelings you get when good things happen. All of these things tell me that there is a God, who created us and loves us. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ was the most selfless act in human history. It was necessary because of the "Fall" or the transgression of Adam and Eve. As a result, mankind became predisposed to commit sin and turn away from God. The Savior lived to bridge that separation. By living a perfect life, taking our sins upon Him in the Garden of Gethsemane and dying on the cross, he was able to be resurrected. As a result of these events, he reaches out to us to come to Him. As we repent and change our lives, we accept Him and turn back to Him. His sacrifice makes it possible to find our way back to our Heavenly Father and live with Him eternally in love and joy.
