Hi I'm Jonathan Scott

I am a husband and Father. I am a a fan of all the geekly arts such as gaming and comics. I am a Geographer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband father of two children who I simultaneously love dearly, and that make me want to pull my hair out. I studied Geography in school and currently work for a Coal Company mapping coal reserves and mining among other things. I also teach Cartography at a local University. I love visiting new places and If I could get away with it would be a nomad. I enjoy Scifi and Fantasy, comics, gaming and many other "geeky" things. I also enjoy the outdoors and especially hiking and geocaching. I spend much of my time now playing with my kids. I have lived in 6 states and 3 Canadian provinces (as a missionary) and wish I had time to visit them all.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but there came a time in my teens when I had people ask me questions or say something about the church I couldn't really answer or respond to. I figured it was time to find out for myself if it was true. Through prayer and scripture study I have received answers to those questions and know this church is true. I served a mission in Canada and it further cemented my testimony. I began to recognize how the spirit had guided me throughout my life, even when I didn't realize it at the time. I have a testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ and despite my weaknesses he loves me and is constantly reaching for me to pull me up and make me a better person. I know the scriptures can help us also.Specifically, reading the Book of Mormon can answer a lot of the problems facing the world today. I am grateful that through the Gospel my family can be together forever.

How I live my faith

I try not to over-complicate things. The gospel is beautiful in its simplicity. I study the scriptures, go to church and the Temple to refill my spiritual batteries. I strive to serve, both in the church and the members of my ward and community. I do my best to follow the example of my Savior and develop the Christlike attributes he exhibited in his life. I am open and honest about my belief with those I come in contact with. I am unapologetic about what I believe to be true and believe a friendly smile and a peaceful attitude can do a lot of good helping others come unto Christ.
