Hi I'm Gary

Professionally I am a safety trainer.... the greatest true feeling of safety is in following the Savior's Plan!

About Me

I was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, in a home with wonderful parents. Good and evil were plentiful, and the contrast and impacts in lives was very apparent. I have long since moved away and have three adult children and expecting my first grandchild soon. My wife and I enjoy camping and the great outdoors. I enjoy teaching both professionally and in my church responsibilities.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 14, a Sunday School teacher challenged me to find out for myself if what I was learning was true. She challenged me to read James 1:5, and then to ask God. I took her challenge. I read from the New Testament and I read from the Book of Mormon. I prayed over a period of weeks and months. The answer did not come quickly. I had to "struggle in the spirit" to find my answer. The witness of the Holy Spirit did however come to me. It was a calm, reassuring feeling that swept over me. The thought came into my mind, "Gary, you know this is true!" That was the beginning of my testimony of the Savior, and after more than 35 years of study that testimony has been magnified a thousand times. I have been witness to miracles in my life and in my families life and the Lord's infinite love that I know that I am blessed to be among the members of His restored Church on the earth.

How I live my faith

I diligently try to live my life as the Savior would have me live. I am not perfect! I am trying to follow the Savior in my day to day interactions with neighbors, business associates, and my family. Once a month I visit three families in a voluntary assignment I enjoy referred to as hometeaching. Over the years, I have made great friends from this simple act of service. For the past 5 years I have worked in the Sunday School program of the church and have just been asked to start teaching an adult group in my area.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No. The practice, which was ordained of God as part of the restoration of the Gospel, was practiced by holy men and prophets in old testament times. It was not an immoral practice, although very hard to comprehend with our current paradigm. Show more Show less
